Why don't you guys take into account the historical significance of this movie? Peter Jackson seemlessly created an entire reality using technology invented solely for his movie. It is a fucking masterpeice of movie making. And if you any of you nay sayers knew anything at all about movies this would be blatantly obvious. As far as lost in translation goes, I thought it was a great movie (that never would have been made if Sophia Coppolas father wasn't who he was) and totally would have one had Lord of the Rings not been in the runnings.
And yes the people from Lord of the Rings were on the stage a whole hell of a lot last night but...hmmmm I wonder why that is? Could it be because they deserved to be there? Could maybe 7 years of putting everything you had into a movie have paid off? Heaven forbid they get what they deserve.
