I can appreciate making fun of celebrities and the ridiculous shit that's currently all over television, but I don't like how it is gives those very same celebrities and shit-television more attention. I've seen "The Soup" a number of times in its current form and I usually get a laugh out of it when I watch. I used to watch it quite a bit when it was called "Talk Soup", but that is beside the point. What I've done over the past couple years is distance myself from a large portion of pop culture. I don't watch much of anything on the major networks like ABC, NBC or FOX. I don't watch MTV, VH1, E!. I'm not saying any of this makes me better or worse than anyone. I'm more interested in figuring out if its worth it.

The positive side: I don't really have to waste time or energy on watching or thinking about any of that pointless shit.

The negative side: I can't relate to as many people. I miss out on being able to make fun of some things that are "new and exciting". I'm sometimes seen as being out of touch.

The positive is for sure huge. The negative is tricky. Many people I am not able to relate to aren't worth relating to anyway. I really enjoy making fun of most anything so I feel like I'm missing out on that shit. But maybe it helps me concentrate on more important things. Not sure.
