Alright folks, here's what you've been clamoring for. The very first Nubblies Short Story Contest thread.

Here's what's gonna go on down.

This thread will not be designated as the place for you to post your stories. If you do post your story in this thread, I will call up a professional disemboweler to disembowel you. What you will do in this thread is sign up.

Just give a shout out here, then get to work on your storyism. It's as easy as that.

However, there are some guidelines.

There will be a deadline. By the end of September (that's 30 days from now folks....30 days) we must have all submissions in. There will be no extension. None of us feel like waiting around for you to perfect your wannabe magnum opus, so get your damn ass to work, and submit your gem.

Other than that, there are no rules. Your story can be about anything, anyone, anywhere, any time. Sounds easy right? Wrong. Try to make these something that you've put some thought into. Remember, this is Nubblies. We aren't your English teacher. We will make fun of you if your story sucks.

When you do get your gem done, in order to make it all official, take your story, and post it as:

Your number will be designated here in the Start-Up thread, according to your sign-up. At the end of the month, we will do the voting by your number. We hope to get as many people involved here. If you don't have time to write a story, just make sure to make time to read all the stories that have been submitted. We need to get a hefty vote tally going here, so don't just slack and read a few. You have a month folks. It's not that hard.

Your new thread will also be the only place where people can comment on your story. I believe that making seperate threads for each story is the best way to go, making sure that we don't get one thread bogged down with comments and stories, questions and bullshit posts.

If you submit a story, you cannot vote. You can comment, but you cannot vote. It's just that plain and simple.

Alright, let the signing up begin. I have already made signed up, so I designate my number to be #1. That doesn't mean anything other than I was the first to sign up.

Let's get some action going folks.

I don't think any of us really needs to "sign up", because what if someone says they will post a story, but they don't? Why not just make it so that when you post your story, you just use the next number (ie - if there are 5 entries and i'm getting ready to post mine, then I'm number 6... so on and on so)

I will promise ya'll this, my story will somehow involve Pliedes and the Butcher murdering hundreds (possibly thousands) of people.

I don't know, what if a thread ends up getting pushed down, and someone doesn't see it and....oh fuck it, just get a number designated...it doesn't matter if someone doesn't post their story, we just see the numbers that have, and vote using them.

Stabmaster, I was actually looking forward to a submission on your part. It doesn't have to be long, just make any ol' thing up.

As to the thread getting knocked down, we'll just keep bumping it, don't worry.

Hell yeah. We just need to get people to submit. Everyone should realize that it doesn't have to be a super long story. If someone wants to sit down and write 2 paragraph's about the sexual excursions of their homosexual goldfish, then go for it.

Everyone needs to make up a little story for this. Just make it simple, it'll be fun.

Once there was a kid who got into an accident and couldn't come to school, but when he finally came back, his hair had turned from black into bright white.He said that it was from when the cars had smashed him so hard.
Once, there was this girl who didn't want to change with the other girls in the change room, but when they finally made her, they saw birthmarks all over her body. She couldn't quite explain that they had always just been there.
But both the girl and boy were glad cause one kid had it worse than that.
Then there was this boy whose parents made him come directly home right after school. And when they went to church, they shook and lurched all over the church floor. He couldn't quite explain they'd always just gone there.

I'm bringing this back up because I plan to enter before the deadline. A story idea dawned on me last night at the pool, and I started denting it out today.

The people I've talked to about it and shown what I have so far seem to think it's excellent. They also think I'll probably be burnt at the stake as a heretic, and they're probably right there, too.

Oooooh, sounds juicy. Yeah, I'd like to announce that I'm still working out the kinks in my story, and should be starting it sometime during the day of Sept. 30th. Look for it a few minutes before the deadline. It'll be that good.

You know, the deadline is in less than 6 hours, and right now, I see only 1 entry. I'm not going to be able to finish my story in time... things are too busy.

Should we extend this by a week or so?
