Just wanted to know who was wanting to be up for the short story contest. I'm definitely in for it, and it will soon be in the process of getting it posted as soon as my son of a bitch computer decides that it wants to cooperate with me, and not be a waste of space.

Anyway, I don't want this to die like the Nubblies comps did, so let's at least keep people posted on what's going on, how long we'll have to wait for the submissions, and how the judging will be played out.

By the way, I want to see alot of submissions.

And there aren't really any rules, just try to keep it a short story. Or a mildly short story, but one that's really interesting.

Chuck, you going to use your story from English? No one can very well compete with that.

Combat Chuck 08-23-2003 12:57 PM

Well, seeing as how I posted it here, and no one paid attention to it....maybe. ;)

But I have another great idea, and I think that people will actually give a fuck about this one.

By the way, this is why we needed an Arts forum. When I posted my short story in the Reviews section, it was overpassed most of the time, and overlooked. No one cared to read it. Here, it will at least be in a correct forum, where it might actually be looked at.

I read the sex.

Tell you what, I'll support the short story contest... if we make a Nubblies compilation CD.

Combat Chuck 08-24-2003 05:30 AM

Fuck, this ain't ever going to get off of the ground. But I'm still up for that.

And I knew that read the sex....and I thank you for contributing your time for that one.

Fruitacious B 08-24-2003 05:32 AM

A nubblies compilation cd?

Titan 08-24-2003 01:58 PM

Damnit Fruit.
Where have you been man?
On that note, where have all the cowboys gone?
Not that I care, cowboys are gay.
Read all about the stupid worthless piece of crap idea here.

Anyway, I'll be gladly participating in this short story contest Chuck. Are there any specific guidlines as to what kind of story we write or use? I've already got one in mind, and it's quite the random waste of time.

Fruitacious B 08-25-2003 12:23 AM

I'm still for the short story idea, I'd try to contribute some sort of my mediocre writing abilities to this cockfish (I'm retarded).

Also, now that I've read up (thanks Titan) I think that the comp was a brilliant idea, and I'm wondering why it hasn't been done. With today's cd-r's I think it'd be totally possible to fit a good ammount of songs on there. There's really only like twenty or so very active posters on here, so it might be possible to do the comp. I have more ideas pertaining to it, but I might revive the dead horse of a "compilation" thread to add an idea or two.

Combat Chuck 08-25-2003 08:08 PM

I'm going to set something up for the comps right now.

Oh, and you know what? I don't want any fucking rules for the short story contest. Just try not to make it too long. Meaning, don't make us read for an hour. Half hour, fine. Hour, you're out.

Sound good?

Titan 08-25-2003 10:53 PM

Sound good to me, sir.

Combat Chuck 08-26-2003 12:57 AM

Good. Let's get started.

I don't want to place a time limit on when the stories have to be in, but it seems to make sense that we should have a deadline. That means that people can't just hold us up for 2 months while they write and rewrite and 'perfect' their story.

So, should I start a new thread that is specifically for the sign up, or just keep the sign up here?

Pliedes 09-01-2003 04:22 PM

Combat, it looks like you should be the one to spearhead the creation of this contest. So make up a set of rules and whatnot, then give me a call and we'll make sure they're all smoothed out. We'll run them by Orgazmo, then actually start an "offical short story contest" thread...
I just have a feeling you'd be the best at coming up with some general guidelines.

Combat Chuck 09-01-2003 05:26 PM

Sounds like a master plan.

I'm already working on my own expert storyism, and you all should be too.
