Ladies and Gentlemen, for quite some time now; J Money and I have been frequenting a convenience store known as "Circle K," and purchasing a very special fountain beverage. This supreme drink is 32oz of ice cold goodness and costs a mere $.63

Exhibit 1 - $.63

This drink is the "Polar Pop," and to search for a better drink (let alone a better value for your money) is a futile endeavor. Because this tasty drink doesn't come out of any old convenience store fountain - it comes from The Polar Zone.

Exhibit 3 - The Polar Zone

The challenge? Circlek.com lists 10 Circle K convenience stores within 10 miles of our location and 14 within 20 miles. J Money and I will visit one new store per day (not counting any additiona trips for an extra Polar Pop when the craving sets in), and evaluate each location based upon some criteria (whatever we are feeling at the time) and assign a rating on a 10 pt scale. We are polar pop veterans by this point so we believe that even the initial stores tested will receive a fair evaluation.

Armed with $.63 each, a camera phone, and a car, J Money and I began this adventure tonight...

This is a crowded store (you know the real tight-convenience store feeling), and the Polar Zone wasn't in perfect condition, could have used some cleaning and repairs to the nozzles. But the store's staff was exceptionally friendly: the cashier woman was excited that we were taking pictures of The Polar Zone and was equally happy to hear of our adventure.

All in all I give this location:
a 6/10 for layout
a 7/10 for Polar Zone cleanliness
a 9.5/10 for staff friendliness
and
a 10/10 for Polar Pop flavor and temperature.

Final score: 8.4/10

This store has a similar layout and cleanliness to store #1, but the atmosphere was much better. The college kid working the counter was playing Bone Thugs on the radio. The Polar Pop was tasty and cold as always.

This Polar Zone receives a 9 because it is the closest to our apartment..and the black guy working behind the counter was bumping some Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

Well guess what Nubblies, After 9 years it's time for ----
LOCATION #3
714 W Main St, Austin, IN 47102

This was a medium sized Circle K location located just off of I65 in what appeared to be a shitty town about 40 miles North of Louisville. As I was driving from Goshen to Talladega, AL I noticed a Circle K billboard..15 miles ahead. I SHOUTED at the top of my lungs POLAR POP which woke up my wife and son since it was 1 AM in the morning. Sadly, neither know or have experienced the greatness that is a Polar Pop. While I was on a mission to return home as fast as possible and finally off of all of the snow covered roads I realized my mission had suddenly changed. I MUST get a Polar Pop. Despite making a pit stop less than 20 minutes ago to let the dogs shit and 7 more hours of driving I had to stop again. When I exited I-65 my excitement was growing along with my thirst. After a quick left I saw the glorious Red Circle K sign. I quickly got my wife's order and ran into the store out of excitement (plus it's fucking cold in Indiana). Once inside I went straight to the Polar Zone. I believe the price has changed to .79 cents but I also think the biggest size was 44 oz (this was the weekend of 1.24). 1 massive 44 oz. Mountain Dew and 1 massive 44 oz. Cherry Coke coming right up. I grabbed 2 massive straws and went to the cashier. The cashier was extremely friendly for having to work the counter in a shitty town at 1 am in the morning. The 3 other customers in the store seemed to be just hanging out and were obviously regular meth users. This is why this particular Polar Zone was docked points because of the atmosphere. The quality of the drink was incredible. Despite making a few more pit stops I did not have to purchase another drink the entire ride home. The 44 oz. Polar Pop quenched my thirst and stayed ice cold in its beautiful insulated cup for 7+ hours in a warm car.

While I had a great time visiting family, old friends, traveling to Frankenmuth, MI snow fest which was awesome, and getting a new puppy the highlight of my first trip 'home' in 3+ years was most definitely the Circle K Polar Zone located in Austin, IN.

I failed to take any pictures of the Polar Zone or anything else while there. As I was driving I remembered this thread and the only picture I can provide is what google street view has to offer. A very shitty saved photo that I am too lazy to fix of the outside of the Circle K. FTR I do not have the outrageously long hair anymore that is shown in the pics above but I am attempting to grow a bushy winter beard. FC, I wish you could have been there as I imagine they do not have Polar Zone's in the UK. Perhaps we can arrange a Polar Pop date in the future. :)

Layout 10/10
Cleanliness 10/10
Atmosphere 7/10
Staff Friendliness 10/10
Polar Pop flavor and temperature 10/10

What a fantastic treat to read this addition to the thread.

RIP lucyfur.

Did anyone ever really fuck magiclit?

Saint DH 02-06-2014 12:53 PM

I am no stranger to these delicious fountains of beverages.

Ultimately my love for this sweet nectar gave me a kidney stone-which is incredibly painful.

Also, RIP in piece Lucy fur.
