Alright folks, this is very important. I probably should have gotten this out earlier, but due to rehearsals, haven't had much time.

Anyhoo, the annual Select Theater production is coming up this very weekend, May the 2nd and 3rd. That's a Friday and Saturday, both during the evenings. The shows both start at 7:30, and the tickets cost only $4. All the proceeds go to the Autism Team out of Ft. Wayne (I believe that's where they are from, but don't quote me on that).

It's really going to be something to see, seeing as how we have 2 of your very own faithful Nubblites in the show. And we're not small parts.

If you aren't familiar with the show, it's about a mentally retarded man, Charlie, who is made intelligent after having a new type of surgery. Algernon is the mouse that the surgery had been tested on before Charlie.

The basic plot shows Charlie's progression in becoming intelligent and all the psychological shit that happens to him then.

It truly is a fantastic show, so I'd encourage everyone to support the Select Theater and come see this show.

Last year, the crowds weren't very big at all, so let's not have a repeat of that. I want to see some Nubblistic support at this shindig folks, so be there.

Thank you, and God bless.

I'll be attending Friday evening's show. It better be worth my time, and I feel it will be.

Lethal-

I've seen this play (well, not THIS play, but you know what I mean....), and if Chuck and these guys can act half as well as the people I saw do it, you're in for a treat.

I've heard the play is going to be pretty good; regardless, I'm definately planning on going to it...

Titan 04-30-2003 02:23 PM

Are you, pliedes?

Hey Chuck, just so you know the dates of your own shows, it's the 2nd and 3rd.

I will be there on the 3rd most likely.

a.) This play/story is one of the most amazing ever invented. I have read the short story and seen the old 60s movie (which is amazing).

2.) You should have no doubts of Select Theatre's capabilities. There is a reason it's called Select Theatre. Last year's show was a real treat, and frankly, I kicked ass as the lead role (not really). This year you've got the beast spear-headed by the likes of Annie Koser and Charles Robison; two of the best actor/esse/s Warsaw has ever seen. (On a side-note, Chuck - last year for select theatre I performed a 3 part monologue which showed the progression of Charlie toward the end, it was the best thing I've ever done. I'm so jealous that you get to be Charlie, and I know you are going to kick ass.)

d.) Go watch the bitch especially if you've never seen it.
You will be thankful.

Combat Chuck 05-01-2003 01:13 AM

Titan, the three part monologue that you used....was it directly from the end, or did you take snippets of his journal entries and combine them to give more of a differentiation of his progression?

Either way, I must say that the acting is not at all to be worried about. There may be a few parts where the acting could be better, but overall, I feel like I have an incredibly incredibly strong cast behind me.

We really need people to support this sexxin play. It truly will be something you won't want to miss.

Oh, and thanks Titan for pointing out the error of me screwing up my dates. I realized that during school today.

Just for clarification, the play will be held on May 2nd and 3rd, Friday and Saturday night, @ 7:30, @ Lakeview Middle School Auditorium.

Be there. Please?

Titan 05-01-2003 01:18 AM

I took snippets.
There were three distinct progressionary levels from ranging from the supersmart to the superdumb.

pliedes 05-01-2003 02:22 PM

I still have the piece of paper that Titan used to write on during that monologue. As his character regresses in intelligence, so does the psuedo-writing that Titan was scribbling on the paper to simulate journaling... Amazing scene.

Combat Chuck 05-02-2003 07:12 PM

Wish I could have seen it.

bleed black 05-03-2003 11:26 AM

i plan on going its suposed to be great

pliedes 05-05-2003 01:29 AM

I went and saw this on Saturday night. I must say, while it was fairly serious, it was probably one of, if not the best play WCHS has done in recent years.
