I liked the meal, gaz. I liked everything involved with it. What I'm going to suggest is that you have a back-up beverage. The black cherry thing was great, but it was gone before we knew it and there was not an adequate amount of liquid for the immense surplus of food. The size of food was wonderful and you filled every request for a large meal. The day after finishing of the meal was exceptional.

The biggest problem with your meal is that it got progressively worse, to the point where we threw half of the pie away. The nachos were delicious, there's no question. The enchiladas were ok. The pie was no good. The drink was alright, even though I don't like cherry flavored anything, it quenched my thirst.

I gave f3lix's meal a rating of 8.9. It was quite wonderful save for a couple of minor flaws and annoyances.
The steak fries were a wonderful appetizer. I also appreciated f3lix interrupting my fornication by knocking on my door to hand me a beer several minutes before dinner. I also appreciated the nice supply of beer. I had four of them, and I liked it. Back to the steak fries, they were quite delicious. They were very light, which I liked. I attribute this to the shredded cheese which took place of the melted cheddar cheese I anticipated. The meal itself is where we start to see lost points. f3lix had a bit of a difficult time serving everyone's meal at once. The Mac and Cheese (which didn't taste all that great for M&C) was served to Gaz and I first, then tonguegina had to wait like 10 minutes to get his, which resulted in a cold hamburger. Little timing issues like this caused a few lost tenths. More lost tenths come in the form of the fact that f3lix was too busy preparing food to actually sit down and eat with us. I think some better planning as well as possibly a few menu changes could have resulted in all four of us enjoying a warm meal together. What I did appreciate was the theme of the meal. This was the most themed meal we have had yet. Everything seemed very American. f3lix has opened my eyes to the potentiality of having more themed meals in the future - and I like that. The ice cream I did not like at all. It tasted like vanilla sherbert for some reason, so dock another tenth or two for that. A couple more tenths for setting off the fire alarm 3 times, which was sorta annoying (albeit likely not entirely f3lix's fault). Another tenth or two for having your girlfriend play a role in preparing (although I will admit her role appeared much more muted than her role in your last meal). I mean, don't get me wrong, personally, I do not mind one iota that she is in there while you're making our dinner; just realize that I feel obligated to dock a tenth or two for any role that she played in helping prepare your meal, because technically, she should have no role (aside from maybe a few tips and grocery shopping assistance - but when it comes cooking time - its all you; thats my opinion on it anyway). Cheers. 8.9 -UB |

I liked your meal, f3lix. It was simple, to the point, and pretty damned good. That said, it wasn't unbelievably delicious. For being a simple hamburger + steak fry meal, though...it was very good.
I deduct slight points for taste, slightly more points for timing issues outlined in Ugly's post, and no points for your wonderful theme. 8.5 |

Pretty good, f3lix. I especially enjoyed the tasty burger. Few things fit together like steak fries, a burger, and a beer. But if I had one piece of advice I would have cooked a single; bigger pot of macaroni and cheese - or forgotten the dish entirely. Actually a salad would have been nice.
Also, beer is properly served in a glass. But that's just minor. 8.3 |

tonguegina prepared some chili for us last night. I gave his meal a rating of 8.6.
If I were to score tonguegina's meal solely on selection, enthusiasm, and thoughtfulness; he'd be receiving the first 10.0. However, such is not the case, and due to a few minor imperfections in other areas, I was forced to lower his score a little bit. Firstly, tonguegina did not serve an appetizer. He served salad, but he served it at the same time as all the chili-related stuff was coming out, so for me personally, my desire to sit through a salad was minimal once I saw the delicious chili-related items. Another minor flaw would be the temperature of the food. It seemed most everything was served at room temperature rather than piping hot. A few examples were the hot dogs, french fries, and even the chili. I kept putting shredded cheese on most of my meal, but had to microwave the plate in order for the cheese to melt. This got a little frusterating after a while. I've gotta dock a couple more points for some rather flat corn bread and flavorless chili. While I appreciate there not being beans (your score would be very small if it was infested with beans), I thought it could have used some more heat. The heat could have come in the form of legitimate heat (read: warmth) or some mid-range spices. The whole meal tasted pretty bland. But, to your credit, bland is often better than overly spicy. The pumpkin pie was really good for store-bought pie. However, Cool-Whip would have been a nice addition to the pie. Also, I didn't really dock any points for this, but the clean-up job left something to be desired. There is shredded cheese all over the counter and a few empty beer bottles here and there. All in all, not a bad meal by any means. It looked like you really took the time to prepare a lot of different items to compliment the chili. I'd imagine this meal was not easy to prepare, and for that, I say thank you. -UB |

I really, really liked the concept of the meal. Unfortunately, that's about where the liking stopped.
As Ugly stated before, the chili was bland. Considering that it was the obvious focal point of the meal, it's difficult to enjoy the food when the main attraction is lacking. I did enjoy the other parts of the meal though...the salad, cornbread (a bit off, as Ugly stated, but still good), and pumpkin pie (again...without the whipped topping...a must in my book w/pumpkin pie). Along with this, as I said, the thought was nice as well as the effort in preparing various options for the diner...but, again, it's difficult to give stellar marks when nothing really sticks out and especially when the main dish misses to badly. I give the meal a 7.6/10 |

tounge I would have given you a 10.00, but I walked into the kitchen while you were preparing the food and witnessed you beating off into the chilli. This will cause you to lose a significant ammount of points. When I confronted you about it, you said, "its a secret family recipe, it adds flavor to the chilli." I found it very hard to believe that semen adds flavor and spice to the chilli. because of this, I'll give you a 1.2/10. And it also caused me to not eat the chilli.

I agree with UB and Gaz on nearly everything. I did like the cornbread though. I hated the beer, but I appreciate the free sample you gave me, so as I said...no points docked. Less chunks of tomatoes and onion would have been appreciated.
Good effort, and the concept was greatly appreciated. 7.9 |

Now that everyone has posted their reactions to the meal, I would like to point out the fact that both 'gaz and UB told me not to make it too spicy. After hearing this, I added very little to the packet of seasoning. Had I been given clearance, the chili would have been much, much spicier.
