Default World Series of Poker 2009

It's here, gentlemen. Unless I suck at life, I only know of UB and myself to be playing for the Nubblies crowd. The events I'm playing for certain are

Event #4 - $1k Stimulus Special NL Hold em (which sold out at 6,000 entries) UB is also playing this.
Event on June 3rd - $1500 6-Max NL Hold em (I believe UB is playing this, too)
Event on June 11th - $1500 NL Hold em
Event on June 27th - $1500 NL Hold em
Event on June 29th - $1500 NL Hold em
Main event Day 1d on July 6 - $10,000 NL Hold em

I was heavily considering playing the "stimulus event," but didn't get near the amount of practice that I wanted to before. I still have soooo much table rust and suck so bad at poker. Also, didn't really plan at all.

definitely good luck to you guys though. If you guys go deep, you gotta rock something Nubblies related.

The tournament rake is between 6-10% with the bigger percentage taken on the smaller tourneys.

Cash games have a $5 max rake, taken at 10% every $10.

Good luck gentleman. Hopefully we will see you guys at a final table with UB busting out Felix of course!!! UB stay away from guys rocking a Lakers jersey.

Nubblies: If we put up with Felix, we will put up with you too.

If UB and I both made a televised final table, how could we NOT sport some nubblies.net garb. Imagine the hit count on this site.

Thank you for finally using "sport" instead of "rock" even though both aren't very good.

In other news, UB and I both washed out in the $1k event today.

Blonde,

I think you're confused and I don't think f3lix helped clear up the confusion for you. The World Series of Poker has 57 events. I'll probably play 4-15 of them, f3lix probably like ~5. So just because you get knocked out of one doesn't mean you can't go get rich in another one. The "Main Event" starts the first weekend of July. That's the one I made it on TV for last year.

With that many events, how do you decide which ones are worth it to play in?

- My warning meant nothing. You're dancing in quicksand.

Well there are different variations to the game of poker, so you focus more on the tournaments that are played in a variation you are familiar with. From there, the size of the buy-in of the tournament and expected number of entrants (and thus, prize pool) could affect your decision.

For example, my biggest return in poker is playing No Limit Texas Hold em tournaments, so I look to those tourneys specifically. Then, I'm looking for ones in my budget, or ones that other players will buy me into. These are mostly the $1500 tournaments and the field size is huge, which makes for a monster pay day if you go deep. It is quite unrealistic to think that you'll finish in the money in any single tournament, as variance is extremely high in a single tournament. Good players will look to cash in the 20-30% range with a deep run happening 5-10% of the time. That's what we pray for and why we play more than one.

It's always amazing to me how limited of knowledge people have about poker.

When I cashed 2k I had numerous people act like I was gambling huge amounts of money that I must be varying hundreds of dollars every day. When realistically it was a $15.00 entry that I got fairly lucky on, not saying my play was bad but lets face it anytime you cash big in a 300 chip super turbo a whole lot of luck is in play.

There's life and then there is Cubs baseball, it's a chore to seperate the two.

This is so true. Also the standard question, "yeah, but how much did you lose?" is so annoying. Most people are idiots and don't understand gambling at all.
