Default On Fatness

I've always been skinny. Everybody in my family (besides my grandpa on my dad's side, RIP) has also always been skinny.

But I have a question about eating habits. I never really "get" people who are overweight because I don't really eat a lot. I mean, sure, sometimes if I am working out a lot or high, I'll eat way more than I'm used to, but mostly, I just eat what I need and that's it.

So here are some things: I generally have good metabolism. I don't eat huge meals, but I usually eat BLD, then snack in between. I basically eat whenever I'm hungry, but only a little bit.

Here's another thing that I really want to ask (those of you who are or have been overweight): Do you get physically sick when you're full? I've heard that some people, even when they're full, can still eat because something tastes good or just because they want to. But I never can -- when I am full, if I have any more (a few bites even) I feel like I'm going to throw up, so I just stop, and then I'm good for a few hours.

Are you guys like this too? If so, why do you continue eating? Not work out?

I just don't understand being overweight I guess, but I also never really have been, so I want to know what it's like.

tl;dr - Why do fat people let themselves get fat? None of that "big boned/naturally big" shit either, you know what I mean.

My fat ass is sedetary beyond sedetary. I really don't have any excuses. But right now I'm pretty sure my metabolism is at an all time low and I'm not burning excess calories, so it's the double whammy. It's my own fault and I'm pretty disgusted by it. I let myself go.

However, I am at the point of being disgusted by it, and will probably get off my ass before too long and start doing something. Overeating isn't really that much if a problem as much as drinking has been.

I used to be skinny as a rail in high school.

I only eat two or three times a day. I never snack. But I love meat, dairy, and fried food and I eat huge portions. I don't feel "fullness" in the time it takes to eat a normal meal. It's not uncommon for me to accidentally eat too much and feel sick half an hour later.

Working out doesn't feel good. Eating feels really really good. You do the math.

But that's the thing that I'm really asking, is if something I have is relatively common or not: that I usually end up getting "full-sick" within 10 or 15 minutes of eating. I don't think I've ever gotten "full-sick" a half hour or so after starting eating, it's always relatively soon.

So to me, eating doesn't really feel that good, it's more of a "oh, I have to do that thing again". I don't really crave food when I'm not hungry.

no shit. like i said, normally I only eat about twice a day. I don't think about food until I'm hungry for lunch or dinner.

IMO masturbating doesn't burn nearly as many calories as it should.

I've always had a big appetite, so controlling my portions and stopping before I feel full is the most important thing. But it's really hard. I get downright ravenous, and I have a difficult time leaving any food behind on my plate, even if I'm already painfully full. Once I get to that point it's almost hard to breathe, and I can only lay around until what I like to call my food baby, is gone.

When I got back from Taiwan I was 200 pounds. A few months in the US and I ballooned to 225. I've been working my ass off since training for that 10k up to now, and I'm currently 209. But the most important thing has been changing my diet, controlling my portions and no longer drinking alcohol.

I've been overweight my entire life with only 2 exceptions: when I was severely depressed and when I was hardcore about eating right and excercising my ass off. And even when I was hardcore I was never in that good of shape. I don't ever feel sick from being full. And I eat my face off when I'm stressed. And my job requires that I sit in one place for 12 hours a day stressed as hell.

The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them.

I'm a bit fat right now coming off of a year of nightly tomato consumption and complacency from being in a relationship. It didn't help that my girl is a gd tremendous cook, nor does it help that there is some seriously awesome food in Texas. I hate it. Feeling/being fat is the worst thing ever. I've made some small strides towards getting back to where I was since she moved back to New York. I'm just trying to take it a day at a time; exercise and consume a reasonable amount of calories TODAY. Not worrying too much about grandiose long-term goals since usually it stresses me out to think about how far I have to go. I'm expecting an easier time in Mexico where I'll hopefully be more active living near a beach and won't have access to as good of food as I do in Austin.

It's pretty damn easy to get fat IMO and takes a fair bit of work and discipline to get skinny and stay that way. I'd say try to be active everyday even if it's something simple like 30 minutes of brisk walking. And write down what you eat (with calorie content). Just the simple act of journaling what you've been eating can help you be more aware about what you're shoveling in your mouth. For me, being overweight affects absolutely everything. It makes me feel less confident and more depressed which makes me want to eat more. Slippery slope, gotta stay on top of it.

I'm kind of in between, was always chubby as a kid, but been pretty muscular since about 15, although when I get lazy I do put some fat on, mostly in my face.

It all comes down to being sedentary; If you aren't working out you aren't going to look in shape, and if you aren't working out, and not making the time to eat right, you are going to get fat pretty soon, rate depending on eating habits and some genetics.

I'm in awesome shape.

No, the truth is, when I stop working out, I get fat very quickly. Family tendancies, both my parents are overweight. I also love eating and drinking... not so much junkfood, I eat fast food about once a year, but I also love some BBQ ribs or a good hamburger. And you know how I love to drink. So to counter it, I work out a ton. BJJ 3-4 times a week. Weights 2-3 times. Jogging several times (recently started jogging home from work 1-2 times per week, about 7 miles.)

Fat is tasty and addictive. When I'm losing weight, it's not that I'm eating better, but more no longer eating awfully. Oddly, I lost a lot of weight when I did what UB did for a few months because I then ate lots of tuna, chicken, and other high protein foods to fill me up.

I'm fat because the last 9 years after my first year of college, I just stopped caring about my body and what I ate. I stayed in okay shape for a couple of years after just because I played pick up basketball. After about 3 years of that, I stopped all types of activity.

The last time I was at a comfortable weight, I dropped about 30 lbs for a trip to Vegas. All I did was eat high protien foods from sun up to sun down. I've chizzled away 15 lbs in the last 2 months, but alas, football season means dips, beer, and pizza. I get to the gym twice a week, but hopefully when my schedule changes soon, my energy level will go up.

Being fat sucks these days. 8 years ago, it was accepted. 80% of the people on the street were fat and sweaty. Now, people are focusing on staying slim and in shape much more. I would like to think I can get back down to my 215-220 by the time the wedding comes around. We shall see.

Nubblies: If we put up with Felix, we will put up with you too.

I think I've just mostly destroyed my metabolism over the years. I'm sure I could get it back to where it needs to be if I put the work in, I just would have to do it. You said you eat BLD with meals in between, which is what you should be doing. Also, because I only eat two meals per day, they're probably bigger meals than I should be eating. Like Mistofelees, I eat two meals per day. There's too much time in between so my body stores more fat than it should, not knowing when I might eat again. Also like Mistoffelees, I'm crazy efficient at beating off. No calories to be lost there.

Creeping around as I please nonchalantly like any other Supreme Emperor might.
