That's what I was just going to say. I mean, geez, there have been a truckload of famous people passing away here of late.
Maybe it's a new trend for the old-timers.....to get one more time in the spotlight.... You know what sucks though? I just got a Entertainment Weekly this week, and it had Katherine Hepburn on the cover. And now it's not hard to notice that with all these celebrities dying all over the place, there are going to be a ton of them who won't get much press about their deaths. I mean, in the same issue, Buddy Hackett got a half page memorial, and Hepburn got like....10 pages. It's gotta suck being them....for more reasons than just being dead. |

Who would have known this thread would need updated so soon? Sadly, it was announced today that beloved actor/tap dancer Gregory Hines has died of cancer. Star of screen and stage, he will be missed by all.

Okay, so maybe he wasn't a Humphrey Bogart, but look at all the movies he was in. Besides, he died of cancer, so cut him some slack.

Alright, so out of that list you just made, I have heard of about 3 of those. However, the one movie that I have seen that he was in was "Muppets Take Manhattan". And I'm not ashamed.

I must admit, I hadn't much of a clue who Gregory Hines was, but I did recognize his picture:

I ronically enough, Shroeder's list of movies Gregory Hines was in, most of those would be in my listing of top 50 movies of all time... Oh wait, they all suck, this guy must have been a shitty actor. Not to mention a bit queer, I'm sure all his boys from the hood are proud of this guy. The only time i remember seeing him was in a commercial about god knows what, I'm glad he's dead.

I have to say that I might be the only one who knew exactly who Gregory Hines was and also mourned his passing.
In the world of dance and entertainment, you could not find more talented, hard-working, and plain fucking generous a person than Mr. Hines. You don't have to fucking be a dancer to realize that this guy was the shit. He paved the way for African American dancers, which is why we have fucking amazing acts like Savian Glover and Tap Dogs. It saddens me to see that not alot of people on these boards knew who he was. It really saddens me. |

I'm sorry, but fuck gregory hines, we're talking about Wesley motherfuckin Willis.
These two gentlemen weren't even in the same category. Wes was the type of guy that would do anything for you... no matter who you were. One of my friends from west virginia met him at a show and told him that he didn't have any of his cd's but next time he came to town he could stay at his place. A couple weeks later he got a call from Wes saying that he was going to take the earliest flight to west virginia to come and see him... he didn't have a show there but he dropped off about 10 cd's and few pieces of his artwork. Would gregory hines do that for you? |
