12 part debate, i'm on vid 2 right now. I'm watching it because Sam Harris is considered a highly respected atheist, who i'm not at all familiar with. This Jean Houston lady in the debate is crazy. |

I had to go to work, i'm only on video six right now but going to finish it before bed. The debate is basically between Sam Harris and Deepak Chopra, the other two don't really have a lot to say.
I looked up Deepak as well after watching some of his antics cause he's kind of a fuck. |

Fantastic 2 hour long discussion between Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens.
Also Pat Condell has a new video up regarding the recent news of the Catholic church. |

Thanks for that. I've seen those pictures all over online, but mostly when people are making fun of them, but I never knew their origin:

I've been reading about that mess for about a week now. That lesbian chick should rush into doing a prom-themed lesbo porn to really fuck with the redneck townspeople there, as well as get her point across. Hell, she wouldn't have to pay for college.

This video was shown to me while asking for support during a recent online debate, I just got around to watching it. If you have ten minutes and have ever had to deal with anyone thinking the US was founded as a Christian nation, I would recommend watching it. The Treaty of Tripoli is usually what I use as my ammo, but this is much more substantial:

Read "More Than A Carpenter" and I'll show you reasons for my faith that aren't based solely off emotion.

What I like most about jesus is that he was so unique.
Horus - Sun God of Egypt, born on December 25th of the virgin Isis-Meri. Had 12 disciples he traveled about with, performing miracles such as healing the sick and walking on water. After being betrayed by Typhon, Horus was crucified, buried for 3 days, and resurrected Attis, of Phyrigia, born of the virgin Nana on December 25th, crucified, placed in a tomb and after 3 days, was resurrected. Krishna, of India, born of the virgin Devaki with a star in the east signaling his coming, performed miracles with his disciples, and upon his death was resurrected Dionysus of Greece, born of a virgin on December 25th, was a traveling teacher who performed miracles such as turning water into wine Mithra, of Persia, born of a virgin on December 25th, he had 12 disciples and performed miracles, and upon his death was buried for 3 days |

Templeton prizewinner: We need science plus morality - opinion - 02 April 2010 - New Scientist
The Templeton Prize is kind of a big deal when it comes to the rift between science and religion. It deals a lot with Non-overlapping Magisteria (NOMA), partially-overlapping magisteria (POMA) and complete overlapping magisteria (COMA)...whether or not science and religion should overlap each other in their fields (as you can guess, this really only goes one way--science overlapping religion entirely). Good things to research if you have some time. |
