Tomorrow marks the two year anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on our country, and it just dawned on me that Nubblies doesn't exactly have a thread for this event.
Maybe I'm alone here, but for some reason, this day really captivates me. Anytime there's something about it on TV, I still stop flipping channels and watch it. It never gets old for me. It changed my life, it changed all of our lives. What were you doing when you found out? -Ugly Bastard |

I, unlike you, am tired of hearing about it. I like to look at the pictures and watch the footage...maybe that's a little morbid. Anyway, I'm a little bummed out right now. People finally stopped talking about it, or at least it was reduced quite a bit, then *BOOM* the anniversary. Fuck it.
By the way, it was career day at high school, and I had a dental appointment. No one at the dentists' knew anything about it, so I told the story about 10 times that morning. Of course that was just to the point of the first building being hit, but either way, really... |

I honestly was taking a shit when I heard about it. I was at school and it was istep testing, it was break and I was sitting there on the toilet and I heard someone go "The world trade center was hit by a plane, and cars across the whole city are exploding" and I was a bit confused. I found out the whole deal later, and I was affected for about a day or so. Then all the news stories got old and I got sick and tired of all this "patriotism" bull crap. I hate new york.

It was career day as Tonguegina pointed out and fuck do you really think I would be participating in that bullshit?? fuck no. So I was taking a shower gettin ready to meet some friends for breakfast at Bob Evans and my mom walks in the bathroom to tell me about it while I was showering. Even after she told me I really didn't think much of it, I knew it was a big deal but not AS big of a deal as it really was.

I was assisting my mom in cleaning her room at school for career day. She came in all of a sudden and told me that one tower was down and they'd both been hit as well the Pentagon, I'm pretty sure. I was seriously extremely pissed off. I went to go watch the news for the remainder of the career portion of the day. I was watching then when the second tower went down... that was erie.

me, and st. anky, were skipping out on job shadowing that day to immerse ourselves in a wonderful game of Age of Empires II The Conquerors Expansion with one of your online teammates. We had been in the game for about 35 minutes and were really handing it the other team, my jap attack had decimated one opponents town, and it was taking the other two to hold me off. St. Anky was just now gathering his army to end the temporary stalemate and deliever the finishing blow to our opponents, when out of nowhere one of the opponents starts sending messages saying the world trade center has been bombed, and provided a link to some website. At first i thought this guy was an idiot, and i didnt believe him. I even started ripping on the guy for even trying to make something up. So just to prove that he was wrong i turned on CNN and saw one of the towers smoking. As i watched in disbelief, my army and slowly my town was being overrun by the enemy. St. Anky became extremely pissed with me, and the other teammate for giving up due to the news. St. Anky tried to rally us to play, but we were so shocked we couldnt. We were at the point were my town was almost destroyed and Anky proceeded to sweat at us to get our heads out of our asses and start playing, because we were losing. Then first tower fell, and after i exited the game. Anky was pissed. I was sad. The End

Personally, I was job shadowing at Biomet. My shadowee was giving me a tour when his cell phone rang. His wife had called and said that a plane had crashed into one of the Twin Towers. I thought it was a shame, but I hadn't realized that it wasn't an accident.
The other night I was watching Bowling for Columbine and on it they show amazing well-shot amateur footage of the plane hitting the second tower. It makes me shiver every time. Al Qaeda should rot in hell for what they did. Lots of our parents and grandparents can remember what they were doing when they heard that President Kennedy had been shot. We will remember what we were doing till we die when we heard that the Twin Towers had been hit. |

Actually The only reason I will remember when I heard was because I was shitting. To this day I probably still don't care almost at all. Nobody I know died, so I'm fine. Call me cold, whatever, I just don't care anymore.

Well first time I heard rumors about it, I was eating lunch at the glorious shit hole known as Edgewood Middle School. I happened to be a cheerleader at the time *gag* and some girls were saying we weren't going to have a game that night because some one "bombed the Pentagon" later, an announcement said we didn't have to take ISTEPs and if our teachers had a tv we could watch the news. I still find it unbelieveable.

I had just finished a certain portion of my Isteps, and they announced it to the whole school. Of course, for the rest of the day, we watched the news in our classes. I think it's sad, but for some reason, it still hasn't "hit me". Or i just don't care... I'm not sure which one it is really. I guess it still doesn't seem reality. Who knows

Yeah, I didn't actually hear it till 6th hour,(we had 7) and the principal came on and told us everything. I was upset at the time, cuz I have family that were areound that area.
Now I just hate how every one still talks about it, its just another shitty thing that happened. Malibu, remember sitting in the "block" room watching TV? |

You American pig. Ever here of this guy called Pol Pot... or how about the Chinese Communist Revolution? Maybe ethnic cleansing in Bosnia rings a bell? How about African tribal conflicts, or South American rebellions? Civilian death tolls of the American military? Perhaps there are some North Koreans, Iraqis or Iranians that would disagree with you. Worse things have happened. 9/11 was still pretty damn terrible though. I was taking sophomore ISTEP. They told us during one of our breaks, then made us continue the test. Nobody around me quite understood the ramifications of what had happened. I spent the rest of the morning shaking. | |

And then the Nubblies Community realized that the perfect OST would be between victim (arguably the most intelligent postor of Nubblies) and Schroeder (arguably the most un-intelligent postor of Nubblies).
So, let's have at it. It'll be positively tasty. |

so I was in a deep slumber when one of my roomates awoke me with his laughter. he told me that some dumbass had flown directly into the tower... I turned on the news and was actually beginning to wake up when I saw the second plane hit. at first I thought it was hilarious... people have accidently flown into buildings before, and, you've got to admit, that is funny shit. but after seeing the second plane hit, I realized that this was something more... something bigger. this was, indeed, an international plan to try to overshadow Stabmas (the holiest of holy days). the rest of my day consisted of going to classes to find out they were cancelled, seeing masses hanging out in the lounges and lobbies gathered around television sets, hoping to catch the latest tidbit of news/gossip. I hate the way that when something hugely newsworthy happens, so many people watch the same news, get the same information at roughly the same time, but still insist on regurgitating it to everyone they come into contact with. I'll never forget that year, although Stabmas went on without a hitch, Stabmas eve was tarnished. so children, as we courageously march into the Stabmas season this year, I urge you all to put the past behind you and celebrate as you should... for, if you don't, the grinches who tried to steal Stabmas would've achieved what they wanted. Merry Stabmas to all and to all a good fight.
if you don't actually know me or how to get ahold of me, pm me and I'll let you know how to get Stabmas donations to me... thank you and Stab bless. [ September 11, 2003, 01:57 AM: Message edited by: StabMaster Arson ] |

Allright, Victim. 9/11 was the worst terrorist act ever. The one thing that makes it worse than all of your examples, however, is that your examples had a chance to escape their situations, a chance to do something. 9/11 victims had no such chance. It was there and done before anything could be done about it.
Also, don't call me an American pig. That is very far from the truth. [ September 11, 2003, 04:42 AM: Message edited by: Schroeder ] |

I'm as much of an "American pig" as anybody else on this site. Everybody thinks they are so blasted worldly, like they know more about other cultures. None of you know anything! I know as much as any of the rest of you! If that means I don't know anything about the rest of the world, then so be it, but I'd put my knowledge up against anyone's on Nubblies.

Well I'll tell you this much, the terrorists aren't up here with their however many virgins. They're hanging out with our friend, member nummber 453.
What is the whole deal about "if you die for me, you go to heaven a get a bunch of virgins"? I definately didn't ever say anything like that... I mean, who would want to spend eternity with a bunch of girls who don't know what they're doing? |
