Paul will not drop until he fails to win the nomination. The GOP elects their presidential candidate with delegate votes at their national convention with is many, many months away. Paul supporters have infiltrated the system in every state and actually hold between 20-25% of the delegates so far. Sorry, Shaw, but you'll be hearing from him for a long time to come.

It really doesn't matter how many he holds in terms of his chances of getting elected or even nominated, which are, barring the death of all the leading candidates somewhere around zero.

Thats not really the point of his running for president, I get it and I appreciate why he is running and wish more people would have the attitude, I just think even bothering to pretend like he is still a live candidate is annoying. Thats not a comment on his qualities as a candidate, just his chances.

I agree. I think he's a fantastic candidate for a real leader. But there's a difference between that and his chances. And F3lix, you have to admit, his chances are pretty fucked.

Once again, proof that you don't know how it all works. States like Florida which are winner take all and others like Nevada, Louisiana, and any other state that has a caucus has yet to award any actual delegates. The media doesn't report this (hell, they might not even know.) They claimed that Paul got 4 Nevada delegates, Romney 18, etc... This is just simply not true. We have our county convention in 3 weeks which determines who will vote in our state delegate contest in April. In April when we all meet, we vote who will be representing Nevada at the National GOP convention (which is where they elect the candidate.) At that time, the 31 Nevada delegates will cast their vote for which candidate they choose.

What frustrates me about this whole process is that the media doesn't report the truth on this and just claims delegates and assigns them to the percentage of votes that a candidate got in the meaningless straw poll.

Some states are winner takes all (which is determined at the state convention) and those delegates are required to vote for that candidate at the national convention. Florida follows this method, but truth be told, (and despite media reports) John McCain has not won Florida and it won't be won until April.

So, UB and others, before you go touting that I'm wrong, be sure to look a little deeper next time.

I hope you guys are following all the dark sides that aren't announced by big media. That would include Obama's earmarking for his family members corporations and hospitals. As soon as Obama was elected to congress, his wife was promoted and her salary raised from $122k to $317k. The earmarks followed which included $1M for the hospital his wife works. But who cares about all this? Lets move right along and just sing Kumbaya and praise the idea of "change."

Just for fun, my cynical guess is, Fox News is waiting to overblow the entire story when obama is vs. mccain. No need to report it now, because if hillary wins, she's supposedly unelectable. If Obama wins, it will be nice to have that dirt fresh on peoples minds.

This whole "change" idea of Obama's is stupid. Hillary and Obama are just as bad as each other, though Obama can hide it better. I don't trust McCain either, as he is just another Bush entering office. While Ron Paul will continue on to the national convention (where he WILL receive at least 4 times as many votes as the media claim he will) I do acknowledge that his shot at the presidency is about .1%. He still has his supporters pushing through the state delegate proceedings and they will continue onto the national convention. But go ahead and just believe whatever the ingnorent media tells you. Just be their little tool. I know that will make you feel smart.
