Somehow a program got onto my computer and I don't know how to get rid of it. What it does is when I sign onto AIM it sends people a link using my screen name. Apparently the link is a virus and the program sends it over and over. I sent it to some poor person 8 times last night when I left my comp on! How do I get rid of this shit?!

Oh, so obviously if you get an IM from me under VDeceptionV and its a link don't click it. I'll update once I get this problem fixed.

run ctrl alt delete, find the name of the program, run a google search on the name of said program, somebody else has probably already fixed it.

use a client that works with MSN/AIM/ICQ at the same time, failing that do as beebs said, if the virus is in the registry chances are you will need to format

Go into "My Computer," right click on the C drive, click format. Then just follow the directions.

No way. Someone will have found the registry files associated w/ the virus and all you have to do is edit/delete them using reg edit. I've had to do this before, not for AIM, but for some other shitty stuff.

the same thing happened to me, repug. i got an IM from a friend, clicked on it, and my computer started emailing everyone in the entire universe. nothing we did could stop it. we ended up going and buying our new computer.
we kind of needed a new one anyway but i was pissed to have to before i was ready.

well if its found just try and use adaware and see if it can find it, and editing shit that any wanker could have put on isn't the best advice, unless its from a legit site, but id try adaware first, antivirus's are shit with scanning the reg
