Okay, I'm pissed. They are actually cutting out of hockey to show Barry Bonds bat everytime he's at the plate. Who cares? Okay, maybe if he was going to be first place, I would understand, but he is only going to be third. Besides, the guy is a drug fiend. It's really a shame that he is going to pass Willy Mays, because Mays never doped up.
It's a joke. Bonds really is a normal kid at the special olympics. He's a sports travesty and personally I'm hoping for a career ending injury before he gets a chance to catch Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. |

Willy Mays is Barry Bonds' godfather, so yeah, they know one another. Willy was one of the first people on the field when Barry broke the home run record.

Godfather or not, Willie made it on his own, not through steroids.

Willie also didn't have steroid using pitchers, competetion tends to even itself out. Plus this is the main reason I hate baseball, all the comparison between eras that aren't really comparable, and all the hypothetical statistical bullshit, maybe if people would just watch the damn game for it's own sake.

hey now, Beebs, don't get me wrong, I hate baseball. It's the only sport you hear a lot about concerning steroid abuse.
However, how many massive pitchers do you see? George Wells is a big boy (a pitcher for the Yankees, right?) but other than that, who? Besides, if pitchers hit the roids that hard, wouldn't we tend to see pitchers start hitting better, or at least more home runs when they do hit? Nope, neither trend developing. Secondly, I compare only because the old timers had it much harder. No juiced bats, no steroid help, just 9 vs. 9 with what would amount to a rock and a plank of wood by todays standards. Clemmons is a big strong guy, Wood is too, I'm sure there are other big power pitchers out there that I don't know about. Pitchers don't hit that well because they don't practice it, not due to lack of strength.
How is Bonds a bitch? He is the best hitter in the game today, does that make everybody else lower than a bitch? Also just want to point out that Bonds isn't impossibly big or anything. The guys in the NFL are easily bigger, just saying that is definatly possible to get as big as bonds without steriods. [ April 14, 2004, 02:50 PM: Message edited by: Beebs ] |

Of course pitchers don't use roids, when you get really fucking huge, you tend to lose flexibility. Pitchers can't be all huge and bulky and throw strikes, or anything that's worth a shit.

The way I look at it is this:
If Bonds is on steroids, then trust me, so is half of the rest of the players in the Majors. With that being said, Bonds is the only guy putting up the numbers that he is, even though there are several guys taking the same stuff that Bonds is. Point? Bonds is the best hitter in the game of baseball at this moment, and possibly of all time...steroids or not. -Ugly Bastard |

Plus clemmons is awfully damn big, regardless of if he is on steriods or not. Power pitchers work out with weights quite a bit, so steriods are just as viable for them as batters. [ April 14, 2004, 04:18 PM: Message edited by: Beebs ]

Here is an example of being very strong, and very flexible Anybody who has ever snatched or even overhead squated knows that it takes alot of flexibility and balance. So instead of getting all pissed off and looking like a jackass, post something usefull. [ April 14, 2004, 05:12 PM: Message edited by: Beebs ]

NO SHIT THEY WORK OUT WITH WEIGHTS YOU STUPID FUCK. I just said they wouldn't take steroids because you can't have a huge fucking chest and shoulders and expect to be a good pitcher. You are a stupid fuck. I used to be a pitcher, I've gone to more baseball camps and schools than you would believe, my brother was a pitcher who played for a D-1 school. Suck my dick.

You DON'T automatically get fucking huge from taking steroids, do some fucking research you ignorant fuck. If you place your focus on being gaining strength more than getting big, you can still remain more than flexible enough to pitch. You are being highly naive to think that only batters are juicing. If they are working out with weights, they are already trying to make themselves stronger, and steroids are going to speed that process up, if they can stay flexible enough to pitch while natural, they can stay flexible enough to pitch while on steroids.

Do some research? All I'm saying is that pitchers cannot get huge and pitch well, taking steroids has this weird tendency to make people big, and that negatively affects one's pitching ability. Go to hell asshole.

I am only calling this thread out because of what we know now about pitchers and Roger Clemens. Also, because Beebs is still with us. I found this thread interesting. I have changed my thinking about Bonds 100% and did so before the investigation. It wasn't legal when he was doing it so why should he be punished. The guys that are in the Hall right now are pissed cause they didn't get the chance to use HGH or Steriods. If they did, can you imagine the numbers though. WOW
