I just recieved a $35 parking ticket from IU operations. And for what??? Apparantly theres a certain way you have to face in a parallel parking spot. I've never even heard of such a violation. Where the fuck do these traffic cops get off!?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to face the direction in which traffic is moving on the particular side of the road you're parking on.

I have a similar story about Bloomington Parking Whores:

Freshman year I would park all over the fucking place illegally: I was a rebel and for some reason I had the best of luck.

While other kids were getting slapped with $35 - $50 tickets every couple days, I always managed to get away... except once.

I was going to the Main Library (Now known as 'The Herman B Wells Library') and discovered a row of parking with parking meters. I had an instant change of heart, and decided that just this once I would park legally. I fed the meter for 2 hours, left for class, came back an hour and a half later, and found that I had been ticketed.

"This must be some kind of mistake," I thought to myself, "I never get tickets, let alone tickets for parking legally. This sort of thing happens to other people but never to me."

As it turns out I had been ticketed for parking in a guest spot. I was ticketed because I had a valid IU parking permit, ruling out any possibility of me being a guest. Ironically, I could have temporarily removed the parking permit and hidden it in my glove compartment and I would have escaped ticket free.

But for trying, just once, to be an honest citizen I was punished.

REASON STATED FOR TICKET: OTHER: FACING WRONG WAY. I KNOW IGNORANCE IS A BAD EXCUSE, BUT I HAD NO IDEA THERE WAS A DIRECTION YOU HAD TO PARK IN A PARALLEL PARKING SPOT. THE PARKING SPOT WAS AT A T INTERSECTION AT A CALM STREET, SO I WAS EASILY ABLE TO PARK MY SMALL CAVALIER INTO THE SPOT DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM THE OTHER STREET. NO THOUGHT ENTERED MY MIND THAT THERE WOULD BE ANY REASON FOR THIS TO BE A VIOLATION. PLEASE MAKE THIS INTO JUST A WARNING WITH THE PROMISE I WILL NEVER PARK THE WRONG DIRECTION AGAIN.

First off, you drive a Cavalier... For some reason I find that funny.

Second, I've heard a lot about people getting out of university-police-issued tickets that way.. At least at Ball State anyway. A few people I talked to just called... wherever you would call and got it straightened out. Maybe you should try that.

So does anyone get puller over by cops for reasons unknown I am sure to them? Yeah, I get pulled over all the time for little shit. I would rather have a cavalier; and the fact of the gas mileage since 4 out of 5 days I drive to Ft. Wayne. And you know what sucks about that? Columbia City cops. Every single bull-shit, picked out of a crowd ticket I have gotten I have gotten there. Fucker Columbia City. Ok, I finished.
