Can someone please explain to me why we've given control of our currency to a private bank? Why do we let them print our money when government itself has the right to print money, interest free? My understanding is by letting the federal reserve do it, it creates interest that we can never hope to pay back. Then you take into account that the income tax directly goes to paying the interest on our debt, and I can draw no other conclusion that it is wealth redistribution to the banking elite.

Am I missing something?

I was wondering the same thing. We have all seen that the Federal Reserve can't securely hold any money. Bruce Willis isn't as young as what he once was when he dealt with the first terrorist act. Die Hard with Avengence!

Zeitgeist is shit.
The Fed isn't exactly private.
It's held accountable by the Government.
It's pseudo-private.
The best thing that could possibly happen would be for the Fed to be replaced by a completely private bank.
In the future These may replace the Fed and the shitty US Dollar.
The Fed doesn't print money.
The Treasury prints money.
The Treasury doesn't create money.
The Fed creates money, but it's not interest free.

So many misconceptions of central banking and it tears me up inside!

All governments do this, a lot. Including ours. The Fed doesn't print money, it creates it through loans.

But all banks can create money through loans. And right now inflation is low because lending virtually stopped, and the extra lending by the Fed hasn't made up for the decreased lending by banks.
