![]() It can't be this bad everywhere. Last night, my wife convinced me to attend the county fair for the lil guy. Walking in, it looked like a nice crowd flowing. Stopping to look at tractors and shit, so I figured it would be a decent crowd that evening. I was wrong.
I'm now convinced, this county has a meth problem. Every which way I turned, the faces of quality billboards depicting the side effects meth screamed at me. You always get your normal, white trash, running around with fried twinkies and shit. This year was a whole new meaning of bad crowd. When I was a kid, finger banging on the ferris wheel, all you had to worry about was Enimem want to be's, and puking on the tilt a whirl. It's completely different now. Having to keep checking your back pocket to make sure your wallet is still there was a clear sign this wasn't the venue for me. 20 dollar wrist band night at it's finest. Is it this bad at all county fairs, and I just didn't realize it? |

![]() I believe these are the types of things that we get better at noticing as we age.
Things like the fair and WalMart have already been great at integrating all levels of society in a given geographical area. I don't think that's a new thing. I think the difference is simply that, as a kid, we don't give a shit if there are meth heads around us. We just care that we look cool. And, if someone did try to steal our wallet, they would have gotten a couple of bucks and a crusty condom. As an adult, you hold your and your family's well-being much more highly, so you're much more cognizant (and, to an extent, understanding) of the folks around you. I believe it's an "ignorance is bliss" type of thing. |

![]() I disagree with Orgazmo and not simply because he is a faggot.
There is a huge difference in the population composition in that city between now and ten years ago. This is fueled by population growth, which is fueled by the faggots running the city who want it to be the next ft wayne (which is a total shithole). I haven't been the fair, but I'm sure I wouldn't feel comfortable there. I have been to wal mart recently and it is way different from when I was in high school and early college. It seems as if the population growth has attracted mostly lower class whites and minorities. This is the result. Fucking idiots running this city think if they put in another strip mall that it will actually help the economy. I suppose it helps a little, but those places do not bring high skilled jobs and the highly educated people to fill them. |

Exactly what I was going to say. I'm guessing also, that a lot of us have improved a little/greatly compared to how we were raised socio-economically speaking. When you grow up poor, you don't notice all the poor people around. When you do well for yourself, you start to notice the differences much more easily (at least in my experience).

![]() Lean more towards DH's general sentiment which is that this isn't just a case of "stuff we get better at noticing as we age". Meth has become a huge problem that wasn't around when were being subjected to portable mechanical rides operated by child predators.

I guess to me, there is no reason to go to a county fair that is so dominated by some seriously fucked up people. I have six flags one way, and Cedar Point the other. I spent probably 60 bucks in the time I was there. That's a ticket, and 15 bucks towards a 2nd ticket to Cedar Point. It's worth it to head there for a day or two IMO. That was if I wasn't thinking about pulling the trigger on UFC in Milwaulkee, since the latest home purchases has fallen through once again. Shopping for houses is the worst thing I've ever been a part of. | |
