If you're as into sports as I am (and chances are, if you're a nubblies member, you aren't), then intramural sports play a huge part in your college year. This year, I served as athletic director for the floor, so I captained all our teams, even for sports I had no experience at.

Overall, it's been a great year for intramurals, and I've got some good memories and interesting stories to tell.

Probably the worst memory was from softball season. I hit a blooper to left field and the left fielder and third baseman both decided to go for it. Well the outfielder ended up trying to slide to catch it, and the third baseman stayed up. They ran into each other, and, unfortunately, the third baseman had on metal spikes, which were supposed to be illegal. The outfielder got his knee cut to the point that if he would have stood up the skin would have just drooped off. They had to call the ambulance, and we had to call the game. The last memory I have of that night was watching the outfielder's crying girlfriend get into the front of the ambulance.

But there are definitely more good memories.

Top 3:

3. Banking in my only basket of the intramural basketball season (a 3 pointer). Basketball.... not my sport.

2. Carrying our soccer team on my back in the first round of playoffs, scoring 4 goals and having an assist in the game.

1. My best memory of the year happened this past Monday. If you've never played wallyball, you are definitely missing out. If you haven't, it's basically just volleyball played on a racquetball court, and it's awesome.

ACTION SHOTS!

Watching Dave hit a ball over the net. It should be noted that no one at Purdue calls me Schroeder, choder, or anything of the like. I mainly just go by "Fuzz" down here, thus the shirt.

Here is a picture of me not paying attention to the game for no reason.

Dave making a good shot and falling down.

After two huge games (15-7, 15-4), we stand alone at the top. A great intramural ending in a well fought championship.

Anyone else have comments on your year in intramurals?

Congratulations!

You managed to prove to the world that you are a fucking douche bag in less than one sentence.

I didn't even read the rest of your post.

My arms are as big as your legs. Depends on your definition of "athlete".

EDIT: I didn't even read your post at all, I read what DJ quoted and saw your picture.

Men who play volley ball are gay unless chicks are playing also.

Play a real sport.

A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.

There is my definition. I've got strength enough for anything I'd like to do, and I've never been a fan of weight-lifting anyways.

You're calling me gay? You've got a disney movie for an avatar!

Mr. Blonde 04-28-2005 01:05 AM

Robin Hood is the shit, and you know it. You watched that movie all the time when you were a kid, and it still kicks ass.

Hysterical laughter.

Shroeder, what hall do you live on? The "Kids who have a hard time making friends" Hall? I mean. God damn. I hate to judge books by their covers, but shit. I love the kid on the far left showing off his pecs. Also, I know I piss you off a lot Shroeder, but please whatever you do, do NOT stick the badass on the right in the brown shirt on me. That kid looks like he's ready to fuck my world up. ;)

PS: Frodo just called me, he wants his friend back. I'm talking to you, fat goatee man in the front.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. The kid on the far left looks like he could be superboy from the way he's posing. And Schroeder looks like a pouting/upset/stomping 10 year old who didn't get to stay up and watch TV.

This is the most correct you've ever been.
Infact, I think I'm going to watch it right now. Oodelolly!

I must admit that I was a fan. It's probably the best movie that the fine people at Disney have ever made.

Repugnant Abomination 04-28-2005 02:21 AM

I suggest everyone go back and watch it, I promise you'll develop a new found respect for the incredible vocabulary used by the characters. Where else are you going to hear such words as: Oodelloly, Scissor gils, Caboodle, and poppycock.

You are correct about Robin Hood being one of the best Disney movies. The Sword & the Stone is right up there with it.

You are, however, inaccurate about your assumptions of volleyball. Just thinking about the amount of pain you endure and physical sacrifice you take while playing volleyball is enough to put it right up there with basketball, baseball, soccer, and well above tennis, which is another sport I'm fond of. Try playing 11 games of volleyball in a row. You will die. I, however, will survive.

DJ FC 04-28-2005 02:35 AM

My votes are as follows:

"Tron"

and

"Volley Ball isn't gay"

Mr. Blonde 04-28-2005 02:38 AM

You know i've never seen tron. What is the premise exactly? All I know is there's racing and like a digital world or something.

DJ FC 04-28-2005 02:50 AM

Tron: By DJ FC

A computer programmer gets pulled from reality into the digital world of computers where he must compete in "Video Games." These Video Games are to digital programs what Gladiator Fights are to humans.

Meeting digital friends, one of them being Tron, the computer programmer eventually confronts and deafeats the evil "Master CPU" to make the computer system "Free Again."

Through the defeat of the "Master CPU" Flynn (The Computer Programmer) finds evidence of copywright piracy of his own works, and proves that a big shot corporate exec stole his material.

Think of the film as Uber-Computer Geeks meet the classic tale of Good vs. Evil. But it's awesome.
