![]() hardly.
There's still only one ball on the court and each of "the big three" average just 4 assists per game. Granted they have more opportunities here, but KG and Pierce are self-shot creaters while Allen does a fair share of it himself. I doubt they'll be able to work together as none of them are pass-first or pass-second type players. They'll get owned by the Pistons in the 2nd round. |

First of all 4 assists per game for a power forward is very respectable, especially when you factor in KG's 20 points and 10 rebounds a night. The only criticism he's gotten his career is being too willing to defer to team mates. KG is a winner and will have no problem giving up 5 points per game in order to share the ball. On top of that he's an excellent passing big man. The same can be said for Paul Pierce in regards to 4 assists per game for a small forward is respectable. A lot of point guards in the league only average around 6 - there aren't alot of Kid's or Nash's out there. Pierce will still be the go to scorer I think, and he's good at creating his own shot. Again, Ray Allen is a good passing guard. Another 4 assists per game out of the best pure shooter in the league. I think his points will take a big of a hit, but his 3 point percentage will go up since he's got 2 all stars drawing double teams around him. The big three are legit, and all starving for a ring. They wont have any problem sharing the ball. The problem comes, obviously, with their bench. They need to add some depth in the front court, and get a backup point guard. Another factor is besides KG there's not a lot of good defensive players in Boston. Plus Doc Rivers sucks as a coach. But if you think this team isn't a serious contender in the east then you're a fool. I don't see them getting bounced out by the Pistons, no way. The Pistons are finished and giving one more run with their core before they break it apart. They simply lost their identity when Big Ben left, and lost their discipline when Larry Brown left. | |

![]() As of now, the Celtics have ONE player on their roster besides the big 3 that can do anything. Obviously they'll sign some vets. Right now, of the 8 other players on the team, only one has more than 3 years experience. They have no role players, no identity, and no coach.
How is this team any different than the Lakers? Individuals don't beat teams. Team USA has proven that the past several FIBA/Olympic years. Washed up or not, the Pistons are still far better than what the Celtics will be. Rasheed will take care of KG, and the rotation defense will crush Pierce and Allen. Pistons in 5. |

![]() Well I think you're right and you're wrong. The Celtics definitely need role players to help, and they'll get them. I was reading earlier that free agents are calling up the Celtics for a chance to play with the big 3. But you're right, they definitely don't have an identity yet, but that will change through the grind of the season. Their coach flat out sucks. Hopefully Ainge replaces him.
I think you're underestimating just how good three superstars will be together, though. They'll gel, they'll get solid role players, and mid-way through the season they'll have shit figured out. No way does Rasheed "take care" of KG. And the Pistons swarming defense isn't what it use to be. Plus, with three superstars on the court they can't possibly double team or close off the lane. The Pistons have always struggled to put points on the board, too. In my opinion the Celtics will get baskets easier than the Pistons will, all they need to do is play respectable defense themselves. |
