Who's your people?

Ugly Bastard 07-03-2012 12:03 PM

Don't these two compete against each other in more than one event?

thekremlin 07-03-2012 12:31 PM

PICK ONE PICK ONE NOW

Orgazmo 07-03-2012 02:08 PM

I only saw them listed in the same event on Pinnacle once. Lochte was favored ever so slightly.

Mens' synchronized diving is gay. And there is a lot wrong with that.

Phelps wins won last race, shits the bed the rest of the games.

Are you talking about your mother again, dent? That's not very nice of you to say. even if it is true.

angry pancake 08-07-2012 11:48 AM

If she was a random chick at a college campus, I'd not even notice.

The last several posts are announcements to the world about who likes men.

That guy clearly has no understanding of how gymnastics is scored and is another example of why I no longer use Yahoo for... anything.

My favorite events to far:

+US Soccer Women's win over Canada was sick. First opportunity this Games to run around yelling "USA! USA!" at top volume.

+Bolt's 100m win. As good as the hype.

+Athletics are pretty fun. Liked seeing the Kenyans dominate steeple chase. The throwing events are cool to see once or twice... I wouldn't want to sit and watch it for an hour. Triple jump is pretty impressive.

+ Triathlon was a lot of fun to watch, as was the bicycle road race, just cool to see the city I live in on display like that.

+Really enjoying women's 48 kg wrestling as we speak. The little Japs look fantastic; Ichi has been mowing people over and Obara beat a pretty good Canadian, and their singlets are AWESOME. I am enjoying this so much more than the heavyweight men's greco the other day.

+Water polo looks fun to play. I would like to play, I wonder if I could actually last a whole game. The whitewater canoe events, same

+Got all revved up the other night over GB-Spain basketball. GB lost, but almost came back, I was in a bar in Chelsea, it was exciting. I haven't watched the US BBall yet, my schedule just hasn't matched up, and that's a shame.

+Gymnastics, I don't have strong feelings either way. The men on the rings and pommel horse are so strong I can't really comprehend it. The women on the mat routines jump so high it doesn't even seem human.

+Federer. Seeing him at Wimbledon was probably the best seeing-an-athlete-play-in-person in my admittedly short career. His epic match against Del Potro in the semis was genuinely stressful to watch. I was in Amsterdam and didn't see him lose to Murray, but apparently it was a pretty shitty match so maybe it's better.

+Going to freestyle wrestling saturday and sunday. I expect this to be my Olympic highlight.

Some disappointing events: I don't enjoy swimming very much. The velodrome bike sprints seem a little silly. I know firsthand how hard Greco wrestling is and how impressive these guys are, but it's not fun to watch, imo. Then there are all the sports I didn't expect to like, and don't: equestrian, archery, synchronised diving, handball.

I really, really like the olympics.

You clearly don't like sports.

BBC Sport - Olympic gymnastics: Zonderland takes men's bar gold

Ironic Mustache 08-08-2012 12:44 PM

Seems a little crybaby poor/sport-ish to me.

Orgazmo 08-08-2012 01:15 PM

Can we get some thoughts on the dude that dropped the bar on his head during weightlifting? Is that something that happens a decent bit (seems like it would), or was it really as big of an event as everyone made it out to be?

Obviously, it was dangerous, just trying to gauge if it is rare.

Also, in the canoe slalom: The man-made rapids are badass. Does that exist anywhere as a tourist thing? It seems like big cities all over (or water parks) should have shit like that.

+1 to the US Soccer win over Canada. There are very few times when I actually scream at the TV after having legitimately lost control for a few seconds. This was one of them.

The US Men's Basketball team's performance against Nigeria was also absolutely incredible. Not only breaking all of the records that they did, but shooting something like 63% from 3's. That is pretty impressive, whether they're playing Nigeria, a youth team, or even just shooting around alone in a gym.

Holy cunt steak. I hadn't heard anything about it until just now when I checked and saw that ridiculous final score.

Saint DH 08-08-2012 04:30 PM

I've found a reason to watch women's water polo. Unfortunately, none of the women seem very attractive.

You would die trying to do those rapids in a canoe, the kayakers wear a spraydeck to stop water getting in.
Lee Valley White Water Centre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is the place for this olympics, will definitely be some in the US, i'd expect a few years experience to be allowed down something like that though

It's not uncommon, although it's rare for it to happen with that much weight. I've done it more than a handful of times.

Ideally you bail forward and the bar falls behind you, but shit happens.
