Fucking shit, and I thought this Nubcomp would be the first one to not have shitty submissions. I have a feeling that once I hear the song I might be urging S&C to change hers...

My high expectations are dwindling at paces I never could've imagined. Depressing songs have to also sound depressing kids, not just have depressing lyrics.

If you don't like Billy Talent, then I don't fucking like you. In fact, I fucking HATE you.
Oh yeh...a depressing song submission. I'll think of one soon enough. I just wanted to tell everyone you're fucking gay for not liking Billy Talent. Note: I do agree though, his hair is fucking queer as hell. |

meet me at the corner of 5th and pontiac. and make sure that no one else is with you, if you wish to see them alive again.

It's not that I hate Billy Talent, I would just hate to see them become trendy.
Malibu and Silver&Cold, try a little harder and make different submissions later. It's not that you have horrid suggestions, I just know you could put more effort into it and find better songs. |

I happen to enjoy Billy Talent. Just wanted to state that. Doesn't make a difference though. This comp will still suck.
People, PUT SOME DIFFERENTIATION INTO YOUR SONG SUBMISSIONS! I'm off to find a song. |

Sure they may not be songs that depress you, but they depress malibu and silver and cold respectively, so fuck off. You guys take this shit way too seriously...it's just a comp. I would rather listen to the song that silver and cold chose as her Dep song, than listen to some song that silver and cold was pressured into picking by pliedes, but really doesn't depress her at all. It's a subjective comp. Each person is picking what song makes them depressed. Shit...and you bash their selecion? You might as well just bash them as a person. They don't bash yours, and they probably think yours are just as gay as you think their's are, but the difference is, they realize two things: A.) This is just a comp amongst friends, and B.) Different songs depress different people. "going to urge silver and cold to change her pick..." That's the gayest shit I've read on this website. -Ugly Bastard [ December 04, 2003, 01:30 AM: Message edited by: Ugly Bastard ]

Titan-
Are you suggesting that malibu and silver and cold purposely chose songs that do not make them depressed just to spite you? Ooh yeah! They got you good!! "Prove it" ?? Jesus you guys are pathetic with this shit... It's not a platinum-hopeful album, it's a friendly website-compilation. -Ugly Bastard |

I just think it's a little excessive trying to get people to change their picks. If their picks are that worthless to you, then why even ask them to submit an entry? Why not just make a comp of all of the songs that you think are good songs for a Dep Comp? That's the point I'm trying to make... Not all of us spend days polishing our selection for these comps...in fact, most of us don't. I popped off Elliot Smith's "Miss Misery" without giving a second's thought...if I had given it some thought, I probably would've come up with something that depresses me more. Silver and Cold/Malibu did the same thing...bash my pick if you're going to bash their's...we both chose our song without thinking for much more than a couple seconds. That's all. -Ugly Bastard [ December 04, 2003, 01:54 AM: Message edited by: Ugly Bastard ]

Why would you want to settle for something sub-par? Especially when the others have turned out so not-on-the-mark. I'm not going to fucking waste my time organizing these if people don't even care to give it more than a couple seconds of thought. [ December 04, 2003, 01:58 AM: Message edited by: Titan ]

Do what you have to do.
I'm going to bed now, but before I do, I'd like to say one last thing. I find it humorous that because you guys don't like silver and cold's song, you automatically assume that she just chose some random song that popped in her head. How in the hell do you know that she didn't spend an hour browsing through her files and CD collection looking for that perfect song that she wanted to submit. And you guys have the moxie to tell her it's not good enough... Goodnight. -Ugly Bastard [ December 04, 2003, 02:01 AM: Message edited by: Ugly Bastard ] |

We don't know. We assumed that they didn't spend much time on it because there are a lot of songs out there that would fit on the album better and they're intelligent enough to know the differentiation.

Please quote where either of us said that their submissions were not good enough. I'll go ahead and quote exactly what I said for you.

You know what, the song "Who let the dogs out" may be a depressing song to someone, but that doesn't make it a good choice for the compilation. While that is an extreme example and we are working with a more fine line, that does not mean we should've strive for greatness. Unfortunately, UB, you seem way to content with mediocrity. And lastly... Quote:
That's not a pathetic thing to say at all. If you can't logically prove your comments, then don't make them. And don't expect to write off someone's challenge to it by saying they're pathetic. [ December 04, 2003, 02:21 AM: Message edited by: Pliedes ]

So Pliedes, you honestly expect me to conclusively prove that silver and cold's song makes her depressed before I say that it does? Got'chya...(go ahead and tell me how you would go about doing that...is there a depression-meter out there I can put her on or something?)
You did a fine job reading through all of my posts, ignoring the five or six times I slapped you in the face, picking my weakest arguements, and replying to those. Good job daring mighty things there. Quote:
