As some of you know, every monday night I have a intro to computer science class. Im currently still going to high school, but im "dual enrolling" the college class. Now, I have a question about this class.
Is it bad that I dont like doing all the hexadecimal, binary, decimal, octal, etc conversions? Because last weeks assignment turned out to be approx 8 pages front and back of conversions, additions, subtractions, etc of all these different sets. I thought I wanted to go into computer science, but if this is what its all about all the time, then fuck that. I believe I remember a few of you saying you are going into computer science, so whats your thoughts? |

I don't think that's what it is all about...but I believe there is probably a reason that you would need to learn it.
i'm not doing cs though, |

I'm in the same classes as Orgazmo and we haven't done hardly anything with hex and a little with binary. You need to learn it, but it's not what CS is all about.

It is there for a reason though.
Again, I'm not taking CS, but I do a lot of computer stuff. I know that what I do use--HEX is a part of it. |

Make sure it's what you want to do... I remember my brother hating it. He's a smart kid...and he struggled with it. Programming C and Java is NOT fun. I know very little about it, but I know that it's not something I would want to sit and do everyday.
You need to love math imho...or at least the logic of it all. |

Hm, and thats the problem, I honestly dont like math, but I do like computers.
I know a fair bit of C now from the shard, although I can't write it from scratch, I am able to modify it and such. Next week we start on programming. |

I used to enjoy writing programs, now I hate it. I'm thinking about switching my major. Not to mention I don't think I really want to sit in a cubical all day reading and writing lines of code. Sounds pretty boring.
