I had the pleasure of being coached by and playing with Demarcus Beasley (a Fort Wayne native) a few years back. He's the fastest mofo I've ever tried to keep up with. But I nutmegged him, twice, thus my years of soccer were not in vain.

My World Cup positions (aside from the pool we're doing).

$100 on France at 36:1
$50 on Denmark at 200:1
$50 on Ghana at 200:1
$100 to win $163 that Paraguay does not advance.
$340 to win $50 that Honduras does not advance.
$123 to win $100 that Ivory Coast does not advance.

I'm debating whether or not to take U.S. at 100:1. Obviously I don't need financial reason to root for them, so I'd only bet them if I thought that's good value. I also plan on doing lots of in-game betting and am specifically eying betting the under on every game North Korea plays and betting on them against Ivory Coast.

I just got to england a month ago, and it was a big deal for me that I move before the world cup. I'm obscenely excited to be here. We rented out a bar in soho to watch the usa/england game saturday, and I'm considering showing up dressed like apollo creed before he fought drago. This is an amazing opportunity to be obnoxiously american. We already have massive USA flags hanging up, and I'm starting to do things like wearing my hat backwards in the office and ordering PBRs in fancy London cocktail bars.

Actually, I would put the over as a better value.

They have a reputation for playing "6 or 7 in defense" but in reality it shapes up as a pretty standard 3 central defenders, 2 wingback formation that was popular in the late 90's early 2000's.

And they can actually score.

I (and a lot of people at my office) were able to bet 1000:1 that the USA would score 5 or more goals against England. We have a total of 37 pounds on it (all we could get done, we'd like to do more). We found this bet on betfair.

USA a good side, but need tactical tweaks | Zonal Marking

Basically the US play a system that is generally called a 4-4-2, but there are two different styles that are different that both get called 4-4-2, depending on where Donovan and Dempsey play.

If Dempsey and Donovan are both outside midfielders. Brazilian style 4-2-2-2 where the central midfielders sit deep and the advanced ones have free roam to cut in as attacking mids/mediapuntas/trequartistas occasionally, othertimes they play as typical wingers (although one as an "inverted" winger, with his strong foot on the inside). This means a pure striker plays with Altidore. I like this system when Charlie Davies is healthy, but our other strikers aren't that good.

If one of Dempsey or Donovan, usually Dempsey, joins Altidore as a forward then it becomes a loose 4-4-2/4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1 mix Depending on how close to Altidore Dempsey plays (formations are rarely as strict as they are listed). As it is drawn it is more of a 4-4-2.
Altidore is the main striker with Donovan playing as a second striker behind and around him, Donovan about on the same axis as Dempsey, a little further back perhaps, one on side with usually Holden on the right or Beasley on the left. The central midfielders sit deeper than in the other formation.

I Prefer the second system, both because it gets more quality players on the field and gets more out of Dempsey, one of our two best players. Donovan, the other best player is as good in either system.
