Please. I like to seperate business from pleasure.
Also, f3lix: one, FC pretty much told you what's what. Second, it's pretty obnoxious, if you thought his PA was down a lot of money, to get on him for that. |

The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. |

I was referring to the 5 dollar fee they're implementing to debit card users, because the government recently made it so they can only charge .21 cents per transaction, instead of .44 cents.
It costs the banks about .3 cents per transaction. "...the cap simply evens out the playing field for retailers because the fees Visa and MasterCard had set for banks grossly exceed the cost of processing a debit card transaction by some 400%. After years of raking in excess profits...Bank of America is trying to find new ways to pad their profits by sticking it to its customers." Bank of America plans to charge $5 monthly debit card fee - Sep. 29, 2011 |

No decimal in front of the number if you're putting "cents" after it, n00b.
Also, fuck Bank of America. Received billions from taxpayers in order to stay in business and are now piling on more nitty fees on the same people whose taxes are the only reason they're still in business. Their CEO should be eating Ramen every night, not flying around the world on a private jet. I hope they burn. |

Bank of America is one of the largest commercial banks in the world, lending billions of dollars to corporations and institutions all over the planet. They don't give a fuck about your checking account, they don't need your savings account. These are simply liabilities on their balance sheet.

You bet even money on something that was only about a 1/3 chance of happening. Yes, it happened, and yes I am going to pay out. Would I do the same bet again? Yes. Because my side of the bet was positive expected value. You shouldn't be bragging about this. | |

A checking account deposit is a liability on a bank's balance sheet. They must keep a certain amount of the deposit in reserve to meet the withdrawal demands. Sure, the sum of all these deposits might add up to something significant, and to most smaller banks it does, but a bank the size of Bank of America has no need for your $500 checking account that they have to service for all your transactions. They have large, commercial clients with tens of thousands of dollars and more in deposit. Hell, even smaller banks don't care for people with $400 in their checking account. They can't do shit with that but hold on to it for you, and that's why you'll get hit with service charges and other fees on an account that small.

The point is that we bailed these assholes out, and now they're trying to get around new regulations because 200% profit margins on transactions isn't enough, no, they want 400%. This is another example of the costs getting pushed down onto the little guy.

You don't have to use their debit card service. You can use cash or you can switch to another bank. They're providing you a service and can charge you whatever the hell they want for using that service. If you want to blame someone, blame the government imo.

I've won three consecutive succesdful foreclosure defense cases against BOA all because they didn't have their shit together. The 5th court of Appeals is going to decide one of my cases against them hopefully in 2012.

RIM is going down. Like we didn't see that coming. They make Blackberry shit. The company is down 75% in the last year. What's interesting, though, is that the company is up 17% in the last two weeks.
It probably doesn't mean anything, and I would expect a slow and structured liquidation over the course of the next couple of years. Probably time for all you Blackberry users (if there are any left) to make the choice: Android or Apple. |
