Mars Express' High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) caught Phobos over Mars' limb on its orbit 7982, on March 26, 2010. The waviness of Mars in the background is a by-product of the line-scanning nature of HRSC. This photo was captured during one of two Phobos flyby seasons that happened last year; the other was in August. The March photos are now available to everyone via ESA's Planetary Science Archive. Here is this mass of jelly - three pound mass of jelly - that you can hold in the palm of your hand, and it can contemplate the vastness of interstellar space, it can contemplate the meaning of infinity, and it can contemplate itself contemplating the meaning of infinity.

Does anyone remember seeing Halle-bopp in 1997? https://www.youtube.com/user/setiinstitute/videos 7430 subscribers, fucking ridiculous. Talk given last week by a guy searching for Dyson spheres, with Freeman Dyson in the hangout.

No, what is that? Tell me more please.
I attended a conference on xenophobia last year solely to see Freeman Dyson be an intellectual badass, but he didn't contribute anything to the panel discussion at all except a story involving his grandaughters with the moral essentially being "children are the future and thus very important." It sucked. |

Hale-Bopp instead of Halle, got mixed up with Halley's comet.
Comet Hale–Bopp was perhaps the most widely observed comet of the 20th century and one of the brightest seen for many decades. It was visible to the naked eye for a record 18 months, twice as long as the previous record holder, the Great Comet of 1811. Comet Hale?Bopp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

Yes I remember hearing about it, and I remember seeing it.
I also remember the cult members who performed a mass suicide because they thought the comet was an alien vessel that would take them to heaven. |

Marshall Applewhite was a genius. His name was even carried on through a Texas QB in the early 2000's I think, minus the Marshall, and add Major. The guy knew what was coming and decided to take the high road. Aliens are coming, and you can be the hammer or the nail. I prefer the hammer. (Troll)

Without the voice inflection and body language of personal communication these are easily misinterpreted. If you submit a satiric item without this symbol, no matter how obvious the satire is to you, do not be surprised if people take it seriously.

Another RI talk on quantum biology.
Philip Ball explains how strange quantum effects take place in the messy world of biology, and how these are behind familiar biological phenomena such as smell, enzymes and bird's migration. Q&A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlN6zVrUewM Quote:
