We've all grown up with video games playing some roll in our lives. Right now there's a war going on. I'm not talking about the one Pliedes faces every morning when trying to conceal his chest hair, or the one between Chuck and the girl who wants to make out with him for the 53rd time that day, or the one between the_butcher and his morals... wait, scratch that. I'm talking about the Console War. *DUNH DUNH DUNH*! Enter cheesy Star Wars music* The competitors?
Xbox: The green machine from the Microsoft scene. GameCube: The tiny square from the Nintendo lair. Playstation2: The rectangular prism from Sony's land of ism. No doubt people have their preferences, go ahead and vote which is your favourite and we'll see what the shake-down is among us Nubblites. I didn't include Dreamcast 'cuz it's dead and I'm keeping this about the currency. Haha. Also while we're at it, there's another question for those who have played all of Nintendo's systems. (I'd have done the same for Sony and Microsoft but that's really not a quandary). Feel free to post all of your opinions and feelings and such after all the votary copulation. |

Anyway, great poll there. But what a tough question that last one was. How do you pick just three from that wonderful wonderful line-up? I mean, seriously folks. And is it just me, or does the XBox not even stand a chance in this? Cause I think it might just be me....

I think she's turned on by bleeding lips though, so I'd be extra careful if I were you. She's one of those... you know... R & R chicks... er... B & O... er... PCP... you know what I mean.
Yeah, it was a tough question for me as well. But it had to have some kind of limit or else it've been pointless. I'm a fan of the GameBoy Advance because of it's ingenuity and helpfulness in my portable gaming needs. And the SNES because it was how I discovered how awesome I truly am. Then NES, simply for housing some of the best games ever, Legend of Zelda, the Mega Man series, Excite Bike, Super Mario Bros, Punchout, Castlevania, Turtles. Actually, I think Mega Man 2 is how I discovered how awesome I am. I'm amazing. |

The one for the GameCube? Network Transmissions or something? If that's what you're talking about, it was piss-poor. It wasn't fun. They've complexed and impossibilized it beyond recognition. The jumps were hard, the normal enemies took like 5 minutes to kill, spikes were everywhere, it was just ridiculous. It was too much challenge, and not enough fun. It lost my attention very quickly.

There's a Mega Man anniversary game coming out, composed of a shitload of classic Mega Man games. Kind of like the whole Zelda compilation game Nintendo just released, containing every Zelda except for Wind Waker. My pants will definitely be sloppy for awhile.

DUDE THAT RULES.
I've been saying they need to re-release the old Mega Man games. They should have already released them for Game Boy Advance, fucksake. They've release tons of old SNES and NES games for it (the Mario Bros. games, Donkey Kong Country, Zelda III). I need to find some info on this Mega Man collection doo-hickey. The bonus disc Zelda compilation, however, only contains the two for NES and the two for 64. I'd buy it if I didn't already have all those games (and 3 copies of Ocarina... yeah... people leave them with me, I'm like a video game magnet) and if Zelda III was on there, but it's not because they released it for Game Boy Advance... yeah I have Zelda III for SNES and Game Boy AdvanceI'MOUTTACONTROL. Or in the words of Hoobastank, "I'M SPINNIN OUTTA CONTROL OUTTA CONTROL I'M SPINNIN OUTTA CONTROL OUTTA CONTROL." [ November 23, 2003, 05:58 PM: Message edited by: Titan ] |

mmhp.net says that the Mega Man Anniversary Collection will be "A compilation of Mega Man 1 through 8, plus the Power Battle and the Power Fighters. I think this one will be available on the GameCube as well." And it's supposed to be released in February possibly. That is fucking grand. Too bad they didn't add any of the X games for the SNES... but that series is still going, so it's understandable. I haven't even played Power Battle or Power Fighters. I've beaten 1 through 7... I don't think I beat 8 'cuz it was for PlayStation. Well this will make a great birthday present.
Also there's another new one coming out eventually called "Rockman X Command Mission," mmhp.net says, "I can confirm the Japanese version of this at least, if not a potential English one. This is supposedly a Mega Man X RPG for the PS2 and GameCube. I say "supposedly" because many games are called "RPGs" when they aren't (such as Mega Man Legends), although from what I've seen so far, this one will at least be more of an RPG than Legends was." Fucking Megaman. I can't express the godliness of that title. Nothing else to say.
Zelda? Ditto. And Shaw, while the top loader is the newer version, I have both of them because I rock. That's not what I was going to say, but fuck it. The top loaders sell for a lot more money nowadays though because they are newer and actually work most of the time. |

Nostalgia.
Playstation hold 67% of the votes. And that my friend, is part of why Sony is rich. The NES, SNES, and N64 are all tied with 100% of the votes. Don't ask me how that works when they all have 8 votes, but 15 have voted. I'm surprised at the lack of votes for the Game Boy. Fucking portability of video games is essential. |

I voted Game Boy. I've still got it lying around here somewhere... I'm talking about one of the big old bulky ones too that was slighly too big for a pocket... and I've got one of the big bulky hard plastic "ASCII" carrying cases. Good times.
Other than that, I have to confess to being one of those strange kids who had a Sega Master System instead of an NES back in the day. |

While the NES didn't have hallucination inducing goggles (we had LSD for that), it did have the arcade joystick controller, which I fucking have at my house. And the bazooka thing, yeh I remember that. Never actually used it, but oh how I remember wishing I could at Toys'R'Us.

There's supposedly a Street Fighter anniversary game coming out too, although I'm not sure which games are on it. Tecmo Bowl, the greatest football game ever, is going to be available on phones soon. Not great but I'll take it.
If we're talking about old school Nintendo accessories, don't forget the Track Pad (forgot the name for it) and the Power Glove. Great stuff. |

Motherfucking Tecmo Bowl. I will not be beaten. I play as L.A. and it's over for whoever the competition is, plain and simple.
Battletoads, Mega Man, Excite Bike. |

Again Mister Bater, the Power Glove...oh the Power Glove. While I never actually purchased, touched or played with one, I always looked at them while at Toys'R'Us. It's amazing how they had so many extra accessories for the really old systems, when they were the most simple games. And now that we have more complex systems, we simply have controllers and that's about it. Just goes to show you that the fire which once burned in video game makers' hearts is now extinguished.
