Wow, This is the dumbest fucking post I have ever seen in my life. The guy is coming off of a TORN FUCKING ACL. Have you done that??? He is struggling with control, and timing, but that should be expected. He is one of the best QB's in the NFC, if not the best. If anyone wants to trade me McNabb, for anyone, I would accept. It takes time to trust a knee, after a serious injury after that. He showed that last night, against a very quick defense. African-American quarterbacks face more pressure and more criticism than their white counterparts, Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb says in an interview scheduled to air on HBO on Tuesday night.


McNabb, in an interview on "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel," tells interviewer James Brown that African-American quarterbacks such as himself face added pressure because there are fewer black QBs -- and because some still don't want black athletes playing the position.

"There's not that many African-American quarterbacks, so we have to do a little bit extra," McNabb tells HBO. "Because the percentage of us playing this position, which people didn't want us to play ... is low, so we do a little extra."

In just-completed Week 2, five of the 32 teams (15.6 percent) had black starting quarterbacks.

Later in the interview, Brown presses McNabb on criticism of his performance -- and if African-American QBs are graded more harshly.


"I pass for 300 yards, our team wins by seven, [mimicking] 'Ah, he could've made this throw, they would have scored if he did this,' " McNabb tells HBO.


"Doesn't every quarterback go through that?" Brown asks.



"Not everybody," McNabb replies.

Brown then asks if the media is tougher on him than on white quarterbacks such as Carson Palmer and Peyton Manning.



"Let me start by saying I love those guys," McNabb tells HBO. "But they don't get criticized as much as we do. They don't."



In the interview, McNabb also talks to Brown about playing in Philadelphia, a city known for passionate sports fans who aren't afraid to criticize the city's pro athletes.

"Every year I'm part of some criticism," McNabb tells HBO. "But every day that we go through life, you're faced with a lot of adversity. Now the answer is how do you handle the adversity. How do you respond?



"I try to handle myself with class. I try to handle myself with dignity. I think sometimes people look to players to act out, speak loudly, pretty much be an idiot. But that's not me."

I take back everything I said before. God I love black guys making excuses for themselves. I had so much respect for McNabb before reading that. As a Colts fan, I ran Peyton's ass into the ground about not winning big games. Palmer hasn't dont shit this year, and the media is ripping his ass. I fucking hate Black people like McNabb. Do they not realize that Rosa Park sat on the back of the bus along time ago. Times have change. If you aren't fucking performing, its not because of color, it's because you aren't doing your fucking job. Look at the money you are making, and compare that to the white QB's who aren't expected to perform as much as you. Blame it on your color, or blame it on your knee, either way, you have just become a complete bitch in my mind.

P.S. Wait til Phildelphia gets ahold of this. That town is probably half and half, and they will eat his ass for lunch. God I hate people that can't perforn and blame it on color. I gave him the benifit of the doubt due to injury, but if you are going to throw color into it, you are dead to me. I no longer want a fantasy trade. My reaction was exactly the same when I heard this. Monday night after the game I was like, "Man, that McNabb, what a guy! what a badass! What good character he has! philly fans are dumbasses!" I actually agree with him that black QBs go under more scrutiny. I strutinize them more. When Jason Campbell missed a wide open Santana Moss in the 4th quarter on Monday night (I had the over and needed one more TD), I was furious: "Blacks should not be QBs. They cannot play the position. If that was Mark Brunnell, I'd be $400 richer right now."

Whether or not that's true, the point stands that, at least from my standpoint, it is true that they are judged more harshly.

That makes his stock go up again in my eyes.

Because on some qualitative level he is right. What do you hear about the strengths of the great white QBs? You always hear about Tom Brady and Peyton Mannings you hear about how great their minds are and how smart their play is. When there is a dominant black quarterback you hear about how great they are physically and "playmaking" ability.

Why are nearly all the backup quarter backs white? Why do coaches spend time helping white QBs who don't make it right away to let them take time to "develop" their game?

Black QB's get breaks if anything, Vick was treated with baby gloves before the dogfighting incident, despite the fact that he couldn't fucking throw.

Why are Manning and Brady called smart? Because they fucking play smart, watch shitloads of film, and don't play stupid.

Why are most backup QB's white? Because most people are white. Heard somebody bitching about only 6 teams have starting black QB's, well guess what, thats almost exactly proportional to the population of the US.

The real question is why are whites so discriminated against in football, the "athleticism" argument is bullshit, look at international sports.

How is that unreasonable, there is clearly a huge dispairity in terms of the percentage. Even if you count the number of high level college players compared to the NFL, its still absurdly black. Blacks make up at most 20% of the population, the fact that they make up more than triple that of the NFL shows me there is clearly some sort of reason for it.

And it is not skill or athleticism, the whitest team in the NFL just so happen to be the Superbowl champs.

The market discriminates a lot, it's called a bubble, and tech stocks were definitely in a bubble.

Athletes are paid not for performance alone, but for the ultimate goal of earning $$$ for their owners, and $$$ comes from popularity along with winning. Not to mention the fact that recruiters are notoriously biased and short sighted when recruiting new talent (See: Moneyball is a great book).

I don't think white people are better than black people, and I'd admit that the social differences might make more African Americans pursue sports for lack of better or more realistic prospects, but white people probably really are discriminated against in Football. When is the last time you saw a white running back?

Under that circumstance, no sport can possibly discriminate.

And actually, I'm not talking about some sort of overt turning away of white players, but after years of hearing about how blacks are so much better athletes, decision makers are more prone to choose a black player over a white one. Also, white kids are engrained with this stupid sense of "black kids are more athletic" which is drilled into them by society and the sporting media and are therefore less likely to try out for wideout and runningback.

Everybody here knows damn well the the sense that black people are somehow more athletic, and its just a ludacris claim.

100% True. The kids that I coached, pissed down their leg everytime we played a black kid. When I played basketball, until I was about 14, I was intimidated by black kids. I grew up thinking that they can jump higher and run faster then I can. It wasn't my parents, it was the media. On the same note, once I got older, I realzied they might be more athletic but they weren't tougher or smarter. I loved playing athletics against African Americans.
