Counter-Strike 1.6 Beta - Nubblies.net Forums

Im not sure how big of gamers you guys here on the boards are, but I just thought id let you know a little about the counter-strike 1.6 beta. First of all in order to get the beta you must be a steam user... http://www.steampowered.com/

Steam is kinda like gamespy for only half-life minus all the annoying ads and such. It also offers a really nice in game interface w/ built in IMs across servers and such.

Once you have steam, you can download CS 1.6 straight through it... The main new things ive noticed are 2 new guns - CT Famas rifle, and T Gali rifle. There alot cheaper then the M4A1 or Ak47, so there probably gonna be pretty popular.

The coolest thing so far that ive seen in the new version is the counter-terriosts can buy riot shields. You are only allowed a 2ndary gun when holding a riot shield. While you have the riot shield you can "deploy" it in front of you, making all bullets from the front do 0 damage from you. Then whenever you want you can "undeploy" it, making you hold it off to the side and allowing you to fire your 2ndary weapon. Im thinking the shields are gonna be alot of fun in a variety of scenerios.

Anyways, like I said I dunno if this means anything to any of you, but I assume you all have at least heard of counterstrike, so you might want to check this out if you have any half-life game at all and are able to play it. More info can be found here... http://www.cscentral.com/cs16/
