I thought we could have a thread outlining some of the stuff that has happened on particular days. Anyone can pop in and comment whenever. Maybe someone was born. Maybe someone died. Maybe the fuckin' Berlin Wall fell. I don't know. Just post it here.

Here's mine for today:

40 years ago today, the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. It was a huge deal then, and helped to expand television to include variety shows and talk shows.
