Not sure how many of you follow horse racing, but the triple crown is going to either be awarded for the first time in 30 years or denied for the 8th time in 30 years at Belmont Park.
This year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner is Big Brown. As with every winner of these first two legs of the triple crown, the horse racing world goes into a wonder of whether or not the beast can win all three races. The derby is 1 1/4 miles, Preakness 1 1/8 miles and the last and most difficult leg is the 1 1/2 mile Belmont Stakes. I for one will have my money on Big Brown who is currently running at 1-3 odds. Certainly the 33% payoff investment (or gamble) isn't going to make too many people eager to slam a bunch of cash down but this horse is just simply stunning. He is undefeated in 5 races with never having any other horse close to him anywhere near the end. Only in 2 races has any horse tried to come on strong at the end and in response, Big Brown humiliated both of them. Youtube can provide all 5 of his races, however the best video of his abilities are on display in the preakness with the overhead taken at the 1:45 mark. His acceleration is just breathetaking. The only thing that could stop him is either falling or having his minor injury (cracked-hoof) become damaged at the race. This horse is for real and is going to end the 30-year drought of needing a triple crown winner one week from tonight on June 7th. |
