I also saw Hugo. Thought it was a good wintertime escape movie. Reminiscent of Amelie/Pans Labyrinth. The trailer doesn't encompass the actual movie well at all, though -- the movie was much more dark and thoughtful, not whimsical and lovey-dovey.

I've watched every episode of the UK Office and found it quite funny, so your statement is bullshit. Like I said, the movie was funny for the first half hour or so, then I just got bored with it. Edward Norton's cameo appearance was possibly my favorite part of the whole movie.

Review of Black Swan
I just saw Black Swan on HBO on demand and I must say, I can't believe this movies doesn't get the credit it deserves. I can't believe how many coincidences there are in it. I love it when movies have coincidences. Like for example the girl is in a ballerina show call Swan Lake and then all the sudden she starts turning into a swan. One of the negative aspects of the movie is that they totally skip how or what caused her to mutate into a swan but that can easily be overlooked given the great performances. I never thought it would be possible to act like you're turning into a swan but Natalie Portman does it in spades. |

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

Taxi Driver - HOLY SHIT!!!
I had no idea what I was missing. |
![]() The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. ![]() |

So, Warrior was really good. I was ready to not like it, just because Hollywood is famously pretty bad at getting sports scenes realistic, and that goes double for MMA. And the fight scenes had some unrealistic features (too many suplexes, too many haymakers) but they were also pretty fucking cool. Tom Hardy's storyline was kind of lame, but Joel Edgarton's was a lot better. Basically, if you don't tear up when Edgarton's character tells his brother he loves him, and then his brother taps out, you're not a real person. The soundtrack is also pretty tits to work out to.

Has anyone seen The Sons of No One? Normally I would ignore it (kind of tragic, the downfall of Al Pacino,) but it was directed by Dito Montiel, and I'm kind of curious how he does as a director. Montiel is the subject of "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" (also with Channing Tatum).
