It's really not. It's a courser granulation. Run it through a finer grinder and you'd get pickling salt. I like it over the plain ass cylinder carton with the umbrella carrying whore on it. Mainly because of it's course, yet not too course, texture. If I need to dump some NaCl into boiling water for pasta, I go pickling salt. It dissolves way quicker.
