Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

That's pretty noble. I think there has been a drop in military involvement since the war. It's good to see people who are willing to go to serve their country.

There are americans willing to 'kill in the name of'.
There are non-americans willing to 'kill in the name of'. I think a mandatory minimum term of service would be a pretty good idea. What do you guys think? If you agree, how long should the term be? ps- no matter the branch, I'd have to go in as a chaplan or a games theorist. |

That is a really good idea chan...i think the we should have a minimum as well..anybody ever seen starship troopers? If they served in the military than they gained the "right" to become a citizen. I think the minimum should be like 2 years and have to be served from the age gap of 18-26...or something like that so you can go before or after college
EDIT:Plus it would be nice to see some of those pussy ass hippies in the military...maybe knock some sense into them ![]() [ April 12, 2004, 01:07 PM: Message edited by: Mr. Blonde ] |

No way we should have mandatory service. There are some people I do not want fighting for my country. For example, if someone doesn't want to be in there, then they will defy authority, and never kill in a war to save their people. Men already have to register with selective service at the age of 18, what else do you want? Volunteering is better, and registering for selection is okay just in case of a draft. But I do not think we should have mandatory service, some people are just not cut out for that.

Yeah, thats a good point, but still...I hold people who serve for our country in utmost respect...however many vets from past wars are homeless or poor..we should have at least some kind of major incentive(not available to civilians) after your service for those who served..

I'd be interested to hear what countries out there do have a mandatory minimum term. I know there are at least a couple in Europe that do. But I'd agree with Vol. There are some people that I do not want fighting for my country.
Not only would we get to knock some sense into some pussy ass hippies, but we'd get to bitch slap some emotionally repressed nationalist motherfuckers as well. I believe in America. I think we look pretty stupid right now, but that's just perception. I don't think it's the reality. With everybody serving in uniform, we would show our True Colors. The hippies would grow a backbone and the war-mongers would learn discretion. Some people aren't cut out for the military, beit zealousness or wimpyness. But if there was a mandatory minimum, I think people overall would seek to serve in the way they know best. And I think that would be good for America. ps- educational funds would be a great incentive for service. [ April 12, 2004, 02:04 PM: Message edited by: Percipere'Chan ] |
