Not really the same thing, but good of a place as any to discuss Google vs China. I've never really had a reason to take too much issue with China but since coming over here have seen a lot of instances that have pissed me off, and this Google shit is just hitting too close for me to not bite into. The fucked up thing about the Tea Party is, is that at it's very base roots, it's one of the best options we have right now, economically. However, they have such a fucking hardon for LIBERTY that they don't understand the concept of regulation. Let alone the social issues that the Tea Party isn't addressing AT ALL--- Personal liberty means the liberty to get married if you're a homosexual, the liberty to abort a child....it's literally insanity.

The Tea Party is turning into what the Libertarian Party was. There are extremist, leftist, and righties all fighting amongst each other for what the best path is, and the party went nowhere because of it. The smart ones (Ron Paul, Jeff Flake, etc...) left to create and join the Republican Liberty Caucus, which is simply Libertarians using the Republican party to get elected. The rise of the Ron Paulites liked what Ron Paul had to say, but didn't even consider any Libertarian candidate who probably fit them just as well, if not better. So now, much of the Libertarian party has split themselves between the Tea Party and Libertarian Party and it's a big power grab of ideas which is just sinking them. Instead of working to remove the corrupt, they are arguing amongst themselves over which their planks should be. Truly a bunch of idiots with flip-flop Palin leading the way.

I'm well aware that the Tea Party you were touting up until 2008 is not the same Frankenstein that exists today, I just don't know why more people aren't calling them out on bastardizing it.

The best thing about that Tea Party movement is knowing that the original Boston Tea Party had nothing to do with "high taxes" and in fact, arose because of a tax exemption on the East India Company.

One of my buddies who i frequently correspond (bombastic!) with who has worked in DC the past couple years but is getting out now because he can't handle the corruption, basically says that the Tea Party is the best chance we have now of un-fucking our financial situation, that it's the least of the three big evils. (D,R,L). Which I sort of agree with. But this Net Neutrality issue is kind of in line with this simple fact:

Are more "Tea Party Libertarians" (the far right wingers with idiot signs on the news) as socially liberal as they are fiscally and "no government" liberal? I haven't heard hardly anything regarding social libertarianism (right to gay marriage, right to abortion) from these fuckers.

Yeah I also agree that they are probably our only hope against corruption, then again, the movement has been hijacked by very wealthy corporate people.

Its hard to say where they stand on social liberties because they don't seem to have one set of political stances. But judging by their support for people like Rand Paul and Sarah Palin, it seems they favor conservative social laws. Ron Paul is the best balance of social and fiscal conservatism IMO. The populace is becoming more and more non-religious, where are all our representatives?

Yeah, the populace is still highly religious, there will be no atheist/agnostic president, let alone candidate for a long time.

It shouldn't be a matter or religion, however; didn't Jesus talk quite a bit about the rich going to hell? Liberty is liberty, anyway you put it. If the TP gets any clout i'm interested to see how they handle social liberty.
