On the contrary, a 720 is exceptionally high for an English speaker, and by the quality of your reasoning skills, I'd doubt you'd get a 720 on a Spanish equivalent of the verbal SAT.

The main point of this is that you said:

Bush has no bearing on world politics, the world economy and the US's place within it, or the understanding of what it means to be a democratic nation.

Now the fact that you used understanding one time and bearing the other implies that you know the difference between the two words. Saying that he has no bearing on world politics or economics, using "bearing" meaning affect, as your later use of "understanding," would imply is just stupid. The President of the USA quite possibly has more bearing on world politics than any other single person in the world

If you want to say you just messed up and used the word bearing meaning understanding, which I honestly don't belive you did and are just trying to save face, you are quite possibly even more wrong. He has been President for four years, even a total idiot would have a damn good understanding of world politics and economics after four years of real world experience with the most qualified people in the field. When considering the facts that even an idiot would have an understanding by now, and Bush, a Bilingual Ivy league graduate (regardless of any assistance he had while there) with prior experience as Govenor of Texas, is not a total idiot, there is only one logical conclusion Bush has an understanding of world politics and economics.
