As all Nubblites know LeBron James is the talk of the basketball world in the NBA. We are already through some pre-season games. His jersey is the biggest seller and he is sitting on top of a big Nike contract.
How will he suffice in the NBA? [ October 18, 2003, 09:09 PM: Message edited by: VOL ] |

Sink at the beginning of the season. Right around January he's not going to have to swim, because he's going to be sitting back relaxing just floating down a river. The game will come that easy to him.

Swim, no doubt about it. The guy is a fucking pimp. He is physically more mature than a lot of rookies that have went all the way through college. Sure he hasn't played against this kind of competition before, but he has played against some really good competition and he wasn't touched. Some of the teams that he played against in high school are better than division 1 college teams.

No! One player can not take his team to the playoffs. The Cavs still suck, but they will not be the last in their conference. LeBron will sink, because he will have so much pressure on him to led his team to victory. After they are 20 games out of first place; then he will shine. But not before everybody sees that he is the most overrated player in the NBA and that T-Mac and all the other all-stars are going to kick his ass.

Well I really can't say that one player can't take a team to the playoffs I mean Iverson did it. Hell Jordan basically did it with the Bulls not taking anything away from Pippen but I really don't think that James will get them to the playoffs atleast this year. They are going to have to build around him and then in a few years worry about the playoffs. Right now if i were the Cavs i would worry about building my team around James.

One man alone can not take their team to the playoffs. Both Iverson and Jordan had a half decent team with them when they went. The Cavs, with or without LeBron, are not getting into the playoffs this year, but just because they don't get into the playoffs doesn't mean that he is going to sink. You can have a successful season as a player without making it to the post season.

Well like i said it isn't the fact that they are going to make the playoffs this year. I doubt they are even worring about it myself i would say that they are just hoping to win more games and then build a team around him if he is as good as the hype.

He can't shoot, which says quite a bit right there. The whole body type thing is a load of horse shit as it is. Amare was good his first year because of it, but that's because he's a power player. Carter was good until everyone realized what a whiny bitch he was, and that he only plays offense when he feels like it. Until Lebron develops an all around game, he'll continue to be overrated.

LeBron had 25 points, 9 assists, 6 boards and 4 steals in his first game in the NBA. I don't think that is sinking. If you watched the game, you would have realized how much better he made the team. His stats are probably an understatement of how well he played last night.

I'm going off of what I saw during preseason. Granted preaseason is not the regular season, but he shot around 23% or so then. If he keeps shooting 60%, great. Until he does it day in and day out though, there's no point in worshipping the guy.

-Ugly Bastard</font>[/quote]I'll have to second that notion. I believe he's going to be a great rookie and do amazing things. One of the best of all time. However LeBron still does have some unanswered questions about his Jumpshot. I want to see him hit his jumpshot that consistently for a while here before I'm 100% sold on him. I still think he's going to be amazing though simply because of how gifted of a passer he is. Either way last night was an absolutely amazing game. The stat that sticks out most is 1 TO. Not only did he do all of that but he did it while not making any stupid rookie mistakes.

The guy fucking flew, he's out of the water. Granted, it was one game, but he proved he's a star, doesn't fold under pressure, and makes the entire Cavs team better. Some of you saw the game, and to say he doesn't have a supporting cast is foolish. Ricky Davis and Z are great players. Z being an all star last year will be great in the East, but he can't run the floor against the West. Not sure where the hell Miles is, but JR Bremer lit it up in shooting the 3 ball. 20 or so games from now, this team will be tough to beat, once they get some games under their young belts.

Solid game by Lebron last night...except for 7 turnovers. Let me just clarify my stance on Lebron before any cumguzzling queen tries to start shit with me about my opinion. Do I think Lebron is going to be a good player? Of course. Do I think he's going to suffer initially, as the hype around him builds up even more? You bet your left nut I do. Say what you will, but he's gone from playing a couple high school games to 82 in the pros, AND he's played over 40 minutes each game so far. The stats are likely inflated at the moment due to the fact that he's been playing 2 teams known for scoring more than D (Christie's really the only good defender out of both teams).
So hear is my official stance on Lebron James. He's on a bad team, so his stats will be high for the year, just like all others in similar situations (e.g. Warriors). He will be a great player in the future, but people wanting to lick his ball sweat and call him "23" are just being ignorant at this point. You can put up all the numbers in the world, but you're fucking A-Rod if you don't ever win. |

I think LeBron is a good basketball player and he is fairing well in the NBA. I don't like the fact that he is being compared to the greats of the NBA with barely 5 games finished in his rookie year.
