Pete Rose admits he gambled on baseball - Nubblies.net Forums

After several years, Pete Rose finally admitted that he gambled on baseball. In case many of you don't know or don't care, here's the basics. Pete Rose was a heck of a player who in my opinion is deserving of a spot in the Hall of Fame, however, he is banned from all aspects of baseball since he was found to have gambled on baseball while he was a coach.

During all this time he said that he did not bet on baseball, or against his own team for that matter. Now that his book has come out admitting his guilt.... what do you think the MLB will do? Re instate him or keep him banned for life?

What are your own opinion of him? This is a big story in the baseball world.

I was one to always say that he should be in the hall of fame....and that he has paid for his crime...now...I have changed my mind...It is the number 1 rule in baseball and he broke it...i do believe he should be in the hall...but it should be noted that he cheated....on his plaque it should say he cheated....but i dont believe he should EVER manage again....he is a disgrace to the game of baseball and now he is just trying to make money out of all this...and thats bull shit

So, if it was based on only his athletic accomplishments, do you think he should be in as of right now? Because many people do not think he should be in based on his accomplishments anyway. They think he was a lousy player.

ARE YOU KIDDING....HE HAS THE MOST HITS OF ANYONE EVER...In my opinion he is one of the best all around players in baseball ever...he played the game with the heart that NOONE plays with today...He was the hardest worker...yeah he was cocky...but there is no reason that ANYONE should say he shouldnt make it in on his acomplishments alone....thats bull shit

I didn't know that the number one rule in baseball was to not gamble on games. In my opinion, using a corked bat, or throwing a game intentionally are worse than gambling.

Is it 100% sure that he only gambled on those games while he was a coach? If so, then even if he did gamble on his own team as a coach. What could he have done to change the outcome of the games he gambled on? Nothing. Now if he was playing the games he gambled on, and then changed they way he played, then that could be grounds for the punishment he recieved.

Basically, I think he should be allowed in the hall of fame, pending whether he was a coach or a player when he made his bets. Go Pete.

I agree with Fruit. The MLB needs to look at the fact that his record might have been higher or lower while he was coaching and betting. He could have altered the batting lineup for example.

I also think that the commissioner, Bud Selig, will re instate him. He already is known for ending an All-Star game in a tie. Why would he stop now, he can go down in history as being the man who let Pete Rose be inducted into the Hall of Fame. So my conclusion is that there is something to gain for Bud Selig.
