Based upon UB's (but mostly some other French friends') recommendations I have just booked a table at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon for January 31st. It's a desk outing so Kremlin will be in attendance. Review to follow.

If there's a restaurant I think will quickly spread accross the US soon it's:
![]() Nando's. Nando's is a Portuguese style Peri Peri chicken restaurant. Their flagship product is a simple spicey barbecued half or quarter chicken. It's delicious. They also offer peri peri wraps and burgers. Nando's does a very good job tailoring itself to the weekday lunch crowd. You order at the counter and the food is brought to you. You can complete a very tasty lunch in less than 20 minutes. Or if you are visiting for dinner you can order a beer or glass of wine and perhaps a Pastel de nata - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for a dessert. Did I mention the chicken is fucking delicious? Because it is. Long live Nando's. Nando's is huge in the UK and has operations in 30 countries. In the US they are limited to the DC area but I'm willing to bet they will be spreading soon and quickly. ![]() ![]() |

Chicken Kitchen is a small southern chain that sounds somewhat similar to Nandos and is also awesome. I'll bet $2,500 that Nandos doesn't have more than 100 locations in the U.S. this time in 2017.

In practice though, I don't want to book this one because there are serious settlement issues.

Looks like this one could be close. Probably give the nod to UB now though as people always overestimate expansion.

They've seriously stalled. |

I just ate at a steakhouse chain yesterday called, "Ruth's Chris." Nothing super interesting about the menu, but the food was fantastic. It's a little over priced IMO, but the food is good. The woman had an 8 oz. Caribbean lobster tail and salad, and I had the same plus a 6 oz. petite filet. We shared an above average bottle (taste-wise) of sauvignon blanc (can't recall the name) during the dinner, then had FUCKING AWESOME cheesecake. By far the best I've ever had. She paired it with a fruity champagne of some kind that I also don't really remember (but was decent), and I had a 12 year old, single malt Glenfiddich.
Overall, the meal was fantastic, the service was even better. I recommend it if you have one in your area. For all that, the tab came to $177 before tip. A little pricey, but definitely quality. Edit* I recently ate at another restaurant that was much more interesting that I plan on reviewing soon (with pictures), so sorry this one was kind of shitty. |

There is one in Indy. I've eaten there, and I agree with what you've said. It was a few years ago, I think I had the ribeye. It was a very good steak. I'd put it somewhere in the top five steaks I've eaten at a restaurant, maybe top ten. I didn't try the cheesecake, though.

Very good, but forgettable. I feel my experience wasn't as good as others. We were a party of 5 so they couldn't seat us in the lower, hipper section (maximum of 4 people). Instead we were upstairs where things were a bit more classical. Food was amazing, but that was never really in doubt. I'd probably go back, with 3 others this time, and try to sit at the bar.
On Thursday I ate here: La Chapelle Phenomenal. It's not over-the-top posh and snooty as most French restaurants, but it's not casual-chic either. It's just a nice restaurant with a professional staff that don't take themselves too seriously. The quality of the cooking, however was Amazing. I had what should have been a very boring dish (Roast chicken with gnocchi in a cream sauce) and they made it alive. The chicken was cooked PERFECTLY, you couldn't imagine a better tasting meat. The sauce was so buttery and creamy but light and tangy. I had some perfectly prepared scallops in a creamy mayonnaise. 10/10 on food. It's also inside an old Church. |
