This thread will be discussing what would happen if certain things were melted. I often times find myself around a fire with various other people with nothing to do but talk and melt stuff. It's for this reason that I would like to know what types of things would be great to melt. Already, the clear winner is the bouncy ball, as it resembles a comet whilst on fire (and it stays on fire for a very long time). Any thoughts on the subject?

Orgazmo... is a comet ever on fire? I heard somewhere that its a trail of ice and rock not fire... eh... nevermind.

Anyways, ever since I was a kid I've had a fascination with fire. I once remember setting my grandmother's curtains aflame... anyways, I like setting grasshoppers on fire. Some pop when you throw em in... its funny.

I dont think it's ice

I can't quite remember what it is...it may be ice but I remember in oceaography class we were discussing this for some damn reason and he told us what it was (he being Mr. Eberhardt).

Oh I was at a bonfire once and some kid threw an aresol bottle in there. It wasn't full or anything, in fact I think it was empty, but regardless it blew the fuck up. Now I know this isn't melting but still I think it's worthy of being posted on here.

Yeah, I think it's ice. When I said said "on fire" i was referring to lighting the bouncy ball on fire...it resembled what a comet looks like the way that we seem them...

Aerosol cans probably should not be put into fires by people who value their lives. However, or a good time, I suppose they're the way to go. Also, it's fun to set huge plastic buckets on fire (with the help of gasoline). It's fun to make trails of gasoline through a yard to the plastic tub (which is, of course, full of gasoline itself) and then waiting for a small explosion. That's the best fun.

I know this is way way off topic. But I think it's quite fun around the 4th of july to buy some firecrackers, find yourself a good ol grasshopper, sandwhich him in between 2 or 4 packs of firecrackers, and then light them off.

or if you strap them on a bottle rocket thats a good time.

if we're talking about setting shit on fire, do any of you remember a few years ago when a couple of seniors (at the time) set a goose on fire at the senior bonfire and let it run around before it died... they got into a lot of trouble for that, but damn it was fun.

On a sidenote...did the Goose fly around? That'd be pimp to set something on fire only to watch it fly around.

I think the goose tried to fly a bit, but couldn't. it proceeded to seek shelter by walking under some dude's pickup... I got the fuck outta dodge, I don't wanna die due to a flaming goose igniting a gas tank.

On the evening of Saturday, November 23, a small gathering of Nubblies.com members congregated to create a beautiful tapestry of meltables. Being the curator of this illustrious website, I thought it to be only imperative that I took detailed notes over the night as to what happened...as to let each and every member share a piece of the pleasure that the 5 of us took away from the situation. With that small but sufficient intro finished, let us begin with the good shit.

Meltables/Burnables: (in order of use)
Book, How to Really Love Your Teenager
Cucumber Melon Scented Candle
Used Pair of Senior Semi-Formal Tickets
Whole Hotdog
T-Shirt
Telephone Toy
Small Football Player
Small Teletubby Figurine
CD, Mystikal - Lets Get Ready
Plastic Santa Face
Plastic Teddy Bear
Pine Scented Room Deoderizer
Toy Bronco
Santa Candle
Scientific Calculator
Mitsy

The fire was started at 21:02 when a cardboard box that was full of various scraps of wood and soaked in lighter fluid was set ablaze within a pit. Nubblies members that were sitting fireside included tonguegina, Ugly Bastard, sim_flex_x, and Orgazmo. This fire was shortlived due to the cardboard box burning away and all of the scraps of wood falling outside of the metal pit. Shit. With the flame lifeless, the wood was strategically placed and the blaze was relit, much more successfully this time around. A bit later, the first meltable was introduced to the raging inferno. Following are the events of the night in chronological order.

Meltable: Book, How to Really Love Your Teenager
Credit: tonguegina
Value: $0.00
Origin: A Local Coffeehouse
Details: The book, crafted in 1977, was burnt for ritualistic reasons. At every fire, we attempt to burn at least one piece of literature. In most cases, the subject is some type of inspirational work (last time it was The Lighter Side of Life). The piece was introduced to the flame at 21:19:57. As one may have guessed, the pages of the book caught flame much more easily than the cover; however, surprisingly enough, the pages remained intact in a complete ash form whilst the cover burnt away into oblivion. Eventually, the pages were startled with the poking stick of Ugly Bastard, thus filtering into the air and all of the surrounding folks' lungs.

Meltable: Candle, Cucumber Melon Scented
Credit: Orgazmo & tonguegina
Value: $1.00
Origin: Dollar General
Details: This meltable was introduced to the central flame at 21:32:02. Prior to the entry, three of the four spectators offered expectations on the amount of time it would last before it would become indistinguishable from the ash that surrounded it. Ugly Bastard's guess was 1 minute flat, while tonguegina and Orgazmo each estimated around 2.5 minutes. As the candle was introduced to the flame, the once light green color quickly changed into a molten white. Along with this, although the candle had a nice femalish smell prior to the fire, while burning, no smell was present. Just 1:57 into the burning, the candle's center was completely melted through as it became two distinct pieces. Exactly 50 seconds later, the candle was completely gone.

Meltable: Senior Semi-Formal Tickets (2)
Credit: Orgazmo
Value: $25.00
Origin: The Fucking School
Details: The first of the 2 tickets was simply thrown into the blaze. The result was similar to that of a burning newspaper (nothing special). After this, though, Orgazmo decided to pretend to be like one of those really rich guys that you see on television smoking a $100 dollar bill. He rolled the ticket into a joint-like cylinder, set the tip a'blaze, and pretended to smoke. His fault in the procedure occurred with the "pretended to smoke" part. Instead of simply acting as if he inhaled, he actually did inhale quite a bit of smoke, thus filling his lungs with extremely hot filth and enducing quite a round of coughing. A few moments later, he collected himself, ready for some more burning. This ended at 21:46:47

Meltable: a Hotdog
Credit: tonguegina
Value: $0.00
Origin: Not sure...maybe Owen's?
Details: It was decided that the hotdog would be added as a meltable due to it being knocked off of Ugly Bastard's skewer by a log that Orgazmo had guided with his foot. Much like the candle before, bets were taken as to how long the hotdog would last in our manmade furnace. Orgazmo guessed 1:30 and Ugly Bastard went with 3:15 while both tonguegina and sim_flex_x thought it would hold out for 4:00. At 22:01:03, as the hotdog was in the process of being burned, a mixture of wind, spitting, and altogether shittiness forced our fire into extinction. Attempted reignition with the aid of lighter fluid occurred for approximately 10 minutes before the blaze was finally rekindled. After all of this, the hotdog was nowhere to be found, and finally considered Missing in Action (MIA).

At 22:24, two cars slowly pulled in front of tonguegina's household. The first car held Lethal, the 5th member of our little get together while the trailing car happened to be a police officer. It turns out that Lethal had run a stop sign and then swerved wrecklessly off of the road while being trailed by the officer. Thankfully for us, the officer was a kind fellow and simply turned around at the end of tonguegina's road. The party continued.

Meltable: T-Shirt
Credit: Lethal
Value: $15.00
Origin: A local retailer
Details: The medium T-Shirt, crafted by American Outpost, was 100% cotton. With a very intricate Aztec design emblazoned upon the front, we all had different thoughts as to its behavior when engulfed in flames. At 22:43:23, it was neatly folded by Lethal and added to the fire. Ugly Bastard waited only :15 before he gladly doused the ball of cotton with a sufficient supply of lighter fluid to get it going. Some of the watchers compared the spectacle to a burning marshmellow or Staypuffed (from the Ghostbusters movie), or even the Michelin Man. A marshmellow was added to the fire 45 seconds later for comparison purposes. Moments later, Orgazmo offered $10 to the man that would dare to wear the shirt on his back...no one accepted. Astonishingly, the marshmellow that was added to compare grew 4x in size. In the case that the marshmellow added was of a rare case, Ugly Bastard added 2 more random mellows. As the flames danced around the shirt, poking sticks revealed that the inside of the subject was still as white as ever. Finally, at 22:51, the shirt was officially considered "gone."

At 22:59, the fire was unanimously considered to be completely resurrected (as it had depended on lighter fluid to exist for quite sometime before this).

Meltable: a Toy Telephone
Credit: Ugly Bastard
Value: $0.00
Origin: A Local Coffeehouse
Details: As the toy was added at 23:01, the cord that connected the base to the receiver was almost immediately severed. Just 2 minutes later, the receiver was turned into a yellow "puddle of goo." Even with the base half melted, the little spinner thing continued to function as before...until it was viciously ripped off by a poking stick yielded by Ugly Bastard. Lethal describes the telephone as "Silly Putty," at this point in the game, while Ugly Bastard screams in pain "Whoa! Hot!" Immediately after these comments, tongueina claims that he can "smell the candle." At 23:03, the entire toy telephone is completely gone.

Meltable: Small Football Player
Credit: tonguegina
Value: $0.00
Origin: K-Mart
Details: Close inspection of the figure before induction to the flame reveals that he plays for the "Red Team." The piece is put into the flame with a masterful toss from Lethal (23:04:50). Whilst melting, Ugly Bastard notices a "#8" on the figurine's shoulder. At this moment, he realizes that the football player is Steve Young. At this comment, an unidentifyable member proclaims, "Fuck Steve Young." Nearly immediately after this, there is a loud pop as a piece of firey refuse is hurled in Ugly Bastard's direction (23:05:45). Lethal concludes that the figurine was actually plastic explosive. At 23:05:25, the figurine falls from its perch and just 7 seconds later, it is proclaimed "gone."

Meltable: Small Teletubby Figurine
Credit: Orgazmo & tonguegina
Value: $0.25
Origin: Goodwill
Details: The Teletubby, donning a circle on his head and being semi-identified as "Poe" by one of the spectators, is tossed into the flame at 23:07:02. Before any type of action takes place, Ugly Bastard retires for a piss. Tonguegina refers to the small plastic toy looking like it has broken a sweat. At 23:08:10, one eye of Poe is removed by tonguegina's poker stick. As Ugly Bastard returns from pissing on a nearby tree, he quickly penetrates the figurine's anal cavity (23:08:34). After all types of stick-molestation, the teletubby immediately returns to its original shape. He begins to flame violently for a short period, beginning with a blue fire which rapidly turns green. At this point in time, Lethal retires to the very tree that Ugly had retired for the the exact same reason. In Lethal's absence, Ugly Bastard notices a metal bell within the ash, a piece of the toy phone. Although a small ash ball of the teletubby remains, the group decides to continue on the path of melting because of time issues.

Meltable: CD, Mystikal - Lets Get Ready
Credit: Lethal
Value: $12.00
Origin: Difficult to be sure
Details: The CD, made in 2000 by Zomba Recording Corporation, is introduced to the fire upon a poker stick at 23:12:40. It lasts under 30 seconds before there is nothing measurable left of it. Terribly disappointing.

Before the next meltable is entered into the fire, a Gall Bladder joke is pushed in Lethal's direction. This is funny because Lethal does not have a Gall Bladder.

Meltable: Santa's Face
Credit: Orgazmo & tonguegina
Value: $1.00
Origin: Dollar General
Details: The face, which was described as "tough plastic," was put into the fire at 23:15:37. The fire turns the plastic into soft goo within 10 second. Lethal describes it as "soft and plausible," whatever the fuck that means. At 23:16:57, the face is gone.

23:17:04 - What once remained of the Teletubby Poe is now gone.

Meltable: Small Plastic Teddy Bear
Credit: Orgazmo & tonguegina
Value: $0.25
Origin: Goodwill
Details: This extremely cute little bear is made of very tough plastic, much tougher than that pussy Santa face. It is put into the flame at 23:18. The head becomes engulfed in flames almost immediately as it omits an awful smell. Lethal compares the smell to burning styrofoam, as experienced in 7th grade industrial tech class (when crafting the derby cars). A blue flame cuts through the night as a goose flies overhead and scares the hell out of tonguegina. At 23:28:22, we decide to abandon the piece, assuming it will meet a doom similar to the Teletubby.

Ugly Bastard confessed "I'm not wearing deoderant," followed with a question, "Did its penis get any longer...did his penis set on fire?" We all ignore. Orgazmo leaves for a piss and quickly returns.

Meltable: Mountain Pine Scented Room Deoderizer
Credit: Orgazmo & tonguegina
Value: $1.00
Origin: Wal-Mart
Details: The side of the deoderizer suggests that you use one drop her room. We contain a plastic bottle containing 15 mL. A warning is also found upon the side, warning that the substance inside is "extremely combustible." Evidently it should be "kept away from open flames." Oh well. Before it is put into the fire, all but Lethal plan to flee from the side of the blaze. It is put on at 23:28:48. It quickly becomes clear that they were not kidding when they said it was very combustible. The fire grows to a huge blaze as Lethal sits still. The strong smell of pine can easily be found within the nearby air. Something strange and smoky is shot out of the fire at this time, but there are no casualties. The piece is considered to be "gone" at 23:30:03.

Meltable: a Toy Bronco
Credit: Orgazmo & tonguegina
Value: $1.00
Origin: Dollar General
Details: This bronco comes with brown hair and a white mane. It is prepackaged saddles up and with a pink brush. It is made in China and, as Lethal estimates, 3 to 8 years old. It is put into the fire at 23:33:07. While it is burning, each of the 5 spectators touch a burning hoof of the bronco, just to prove how tough we are. At 23:34:26, it is gone. Unanimously, it is decided that it was well worth $1.

Meltable: Santa Candle
Credit: Orgazmo & tonguegina
Value: $0.50
Origin: Dollar General
Details: This candle is a small statue of Santa Claus as he holds a sheep (or albino) and something else (no one could tell what it was...not even before melting). Before it is put into the flame, Ugly Bastard introduces a snot rocket. Soon after, tonguegina messes up the pyramid of logs. The candle is put in at 23:37:32 with the wrapper still enveloping it. The color of the candle is the first to go. A poker stick is utilized to remove the plastic from Mr. Claus's face. As the color is removed from the face, a completely white tone is shown before, thus confirming that Santa is caucasian (and not hispanic...Anky). At 23:39:00, the candle is separated into two wax pieces. Although it had no smell prior to being put into the fire, as it burns a reasonable smell can be ascertained. At 23:39:15, the candle is completely gone.

Meltable: Scientific Calculator
Credit: Lethal
Value: $30.00
Origin: Couldn't Tell You
Details: This masterful tool, a Texas Instruments TI-30Xa (with batteries) comes autographed with Lethal's name, Betsy, Tiffanee, and Meghan. Along with this, it was crafted in Communist China. At 23:43:11, it was put into the fire. From the beginning, huge drips of molten plastic could be seen. As tonguegina attempts to do a mathematical problem with his poking stick, a battery explodes with a HUGE boom. We all scatter from the blaze and rendezvous 18 - 20 feet away. As the 4 of us talk about the previous (and I attempt to record the event on a paper plate...the same paper plate that I've been recording the entire night's actions upon), Lethal journeys back to the flame. Just as Ugly Bastard says aloud, "Lethal has some balls," a second explosion occurs, sending Lethal quickly back to the cowering group. Closer inspection of the piece reveals that the circuit board from within remains. Also, with the use of a poker stick, the buttons peel off. At this point in time, Lethal makes the wry observation, "Looks like there is spit on it." Immediately afterward, Orgazmo responds, "Yeah...I just spit on it..." The calculator is officially "gone" at 23:48:21.

Meltable: Mitsy
Credit: Orgazmo & tonguegina
Value: $3.00
Origin: Goodwill
Details: Mitsy is a toddler-sized female that stands about 2.5 ft tall. When it comes to breasts, she has a handful on each side...assuming that you are an infant. Along with this, she has no nipples. She is a brunette with 12" long hair that is done in pigtails. She has blue eyes that open and close with gravity's touch. She is quite a limber girl, possibly a gymnast. Her premenstrual vaginals are hairless. She has pencil thin eyebrows that appear to be red, a different color from her eyelashes and hair. Her belly button is described as an "inny." She does possess a nice hourglass shape, for her age (or for any age). She has a very tight ass and an estimated size 1 shoe. She was crafted in 1974...making her 28 years old. She was made by the Lovee Doll Company. Evidently she is Oriental...as she was made in Communist fucking China. Although she possesses kneecaps, she has no type of bendability at the knees. Her hands are bound at the rear with a few bands of duct tape. Her screams are muffled with a few more strategically placed strips of the tape. She has very nice ears and an unidentifiably liquid that slushes within her body. Predictions for how long she lasts are as follows: Lethal - 5:15, Ugly Bastard - 7:06, tonguegina - 6:02, sim_flex_x - 6:50, Orgazmo - 8:53. At 23:49:21, Mitsy is introduced to the flame. A terrible smell immediately surrounds the area. At 24:02:00, the melted left breast forms what appears to be a nipple. A little later, the duct tape on her mouth melts away. As her legs melt away, she begins to slide down the stake that she is makeshiftly attached to and her eyes open, peering straight at Orgazmo and sim_flex_x. This is spooky as hell. To be honest, it freaks the shit out Orgazmo, and he very well may dream about it for years to come. She begins to shoot stuff at those sitting around the fire, but no one is hit. As the fire reaches her head, she gets a case of "Negro Skull." Some compare her final moments to "melting ice cream." As her existence comes to an end, the flames turn black. Nothing really seems to matter in this single moment, as a watch reveals that she's been a'blaze for nearly 10 minutes and it becomes clear that Orgazmo has won the guessing game.

This hasn't been the first, and it most certainly will not be the last. If you have any ideas for the next Meltable session, please leave them here, as they are more than welcome and appreciated. If you want to be included in the next Meltable session, go ahead and contact one of us and we'll make sure to let you know about our plans. One item already on the list for next time is a bar of soap. It's shaping up to be a real winner, something that you certainly will not want to miss...

I must say the fire was rather enjoyable and I consider the meltables session a complete success. I would not miss the next one if my life depended on it, please keep me updated. As for this time around, I can't say exactly what I consider to be the best meltable. They all had their pirks. As I had arrived late(for I was held at dinner with my family), the melting started before I arrived. Luckily it seems I dind't miss anything to sweet. And i would like to thank the cop for not pulling me over, it is much appreciated. The meltables which i was a part of though were beyond my expectations. Never could I have imagined what would take place. From the melting of different plastics, to the explosions of batteries, every aspect of the fire was more than worth my time. Also, I give props to Orgazmo for noting everything that took place. I would not have wanted to do it, but he was more than willing for the betterment of nubblies. I invite all nubblies members to come out to the next meltable session. You won't be disappointed. And if you can't make it, please leave suggestions as to what we should consider melting.

A huge success, even better than the first. I suggest we wait about a month before attempting again, because the search for better meltables will be a tough one, and you must get progressively better as time progresses, but we will keep you posted.

After your post orgazmo, this topic will be dead. What can top all of that?

Anyways, one time i was in a sauna and on the wall above the smoldering coals crawled a spider. I proceeded to knock the spider into the coals. I learned a useful fact that night. Spiders sizzle.

Meltables: Version II was a success in my book. Although I did not attend Meltables I, I could still get the sense that II was a little better.

To demonstrate a little Meltables dedication, I drove a three hour round-trip to participate in meltables. I also failed to mention to my parents that I was in Warsaw. They weren't too happy about that when I happened to mention it to them on the phone today.

In the same way that a cop let Lethal slide under the radar, I would like to take the balance of my time to thank a cop myself:
I was coming home at about 1:00 am Sunday Morning. On US 15 I was going about 90. When I got up near the lovely town of Wabash, I decided I better slow down. So I figured 70 would be a good speed to drive through Wabash on. About halfway through the town, I got pulled over (first time I've ever been pulled over in my life mind you). The (female) cop comes up to my window, and informs me that I was going 72 in a 35, and that I passed a car in an intersection. I handed her my license and registration. The car I was driving was not mine. So the names on the license and registration did not agree with each other. However, instead of suspecting that this young-male wearing a stocking cap had stolen this car, she assumed that I had just borrowed it, and let me off with a verbal warning. Yes, that's right, a verbal warning. I was going over twice the speed limit, and I passed another vehicle in an intersection. But this lovely woman was nice enough to let me slip off with a verbal warning, the bitch could have arrested me if she wanted to. So, I would like to think that wonderful woman, whoever she may be. You made my day.

In closing, I would like to encourage all nubblies.com members to make it out to the next meltables session. It is well worth it. Especially since most of you only live a mile or two away from the meltables headquarters.

Thank you, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Ugly,
It is obvious that the cop wanted to get into your pants. If you wanted you could have fucked her in the backseat of the stolen car. Why did you not I ask?

The reason I did not dip my member into her taco might have something to do with the fact that she was rather overweight and did not smell all that good. But I may be wrong.

I would just like to extend a thanks to the four other nubblies members present at the Meltables II session--a thanks for inviting me to join. I must say the experience exceeded my expectations. From candles to exploding calculators this session had something for everyone, and I had a wonderful time.

and to Lethal and Ugly, I'm most happy for the both of you that there were friendly cops on duty that night.

it surely sounds like the metalbles meeting was a fun time. I have many ideas for things to burn. They may not be very great, but there's alot of shit in my house that would not be missed if it were to be burned...Like my cat.

I would like to see how a cat(we'll call her Coa-coa) would react if tossed into a fire. It may not be enjoyable for her, but it just may be for me.
