Another Brick in the Wall
|
You've seen movies that try to be about geeks. None of them have ever been close to this movie.
Not by a mile. Not by 100 miles. This is a movie about a geek, known by the name of Napoleon Dynamite, who lives in what seems to be early 90's smalltown Idaho. I never laugh at movies, and I broke out laughing so many times; everyone in the theater did. I will refrain from saying anything more about the plot so as not to give away any of its hilarious moments. If you have ever felt like a geek at all, you will find at least one part of this movie absolutely hilarious. Cinematically, it's really not that much, but it pulls off something that made me ask: "Am I really seeing this in a movie theater?" I don't really know what the special something is, but this movie is just not normal. At all. You'd expect lots of drawn-out crude jokes, racial slurs, and just over-the-top idiocy of humor that hollywood usually pukes out. This movie is rated PG. There were many instances when I way saying to myself, "Oh no, this scene is going to turn into stupid hollywood typical blah." Never once did it do so. If you want to laugh, drive to Jefferson Pointe and go to the Rave Theater and see this. Why is it not playing anywhere else? Because it's just too cool. |
