I appologize if this has been discussed before, but does anyone use Spotify?

I just started. The library of music is multiple times larger than Pandora and you can actually choose the music you want to hear.

Thoughts?

Hook this up, and either use spotify or pay napster 5.99 a month for unlimited streaming goodness.. or you can use to to stream from PC

(I'm guessing you want to be able to link it to your new hi-fi?)

Edit : Might have jumped the gun a little there, I use the free version sometimes, the ads can be annoying, are you paying for it?

You can link it up with your phone too.

^ Or just use your ps3 along with wmp11 or tversity. Maybe not streaming shit from the web (unless the ps3 flash can handle it...which it probably can), but can definitely stream mp3's and video.

Ps3 does have pretty good reviews when it comes to audio quality, but a ps3 is a console, tversity is shit for browsing files, I use it because its the cheapest way to get files from a computer to a tv, the squeezebox doesn't need a computer to be on either.

Follow up:

Spotify is AWESOME.

It's only 10 GBP or EUR per month for unilmited play w/ no commercials. The music library is extensive, the interface is great, the music files are high quality and queue quickly.

One thing I've found: Spotify may "not be available" in the US, but for some reason if you have a Spotify account you are allowed to use it in the US. I am using mine now.

Which means I think that you can download the software, then register and pay w/ a credit card and just chose to be billed in either GBP or EUR.

I recommend people look into this as I think the non-US thing can be worked around.

Ok. I set up an account and installed spotify. So far, its fine. Loads music quickly. I have yet to hear a commercial, but I'm only 2 songs in. I've used Pandora for a long time and have never had commercials or those ads that pop up in the interface. If the ads/commercials are too intrusive, I'll just stick with Pandora. I'll update my feedback later once I've had a chance to play around with it a bit.

The difference between this and Pandora is that you can play any song you want with Spotify, any time you want.

I guess I can see the usefulness of Spotify. If I really want to hear a specific song, I'll use Spotify. But if I want to discover some new bands, I'll use Pandora.

Spotify now allows you to share playlists with your friends in a very smooth and intelligent way. Your friends can even update their playlists in real-time for you. And they now have over Ten Million Tracks in their library. That's a lot. I'm continually impressed with this service. They are adding songs to their library at a rate of over 10k per day.

I would be absolutely thrilled if people would sign up for this service, browse and listen to my playlists, but more importantly create playlists of their own that I can listen to. I'm talking to you Blonde. Please.

Because Spotify is like already having them downloaded.

Why go through the trouble of downloading and organising music when you have it all done for you already?
