John Stewart is a clown. I'm not really sure what your point in that post was. He is a fucking comedian, not a politician, nor a political scientist, not even a fucking political commentator. I can't see how anyone believes anything he says holds any weight. He is a bastard, a fool, and he clearly has no understanding of economics, history, business, or ecology. Let me put it this way, if I went and saw George Bush Sr. speak, I would be very pissed off if he told jokes instead. By the same thread, when I watch John Stewart, I want to hear jokes, not his political ideals. God damn you John Stewart.

It's just like how bands and musicians that become political in their songs make me puke. If I went and saw George Bush Sr. speak, and he sung songs instead, I would be very pissed off. When I listen to music, I don't want to hear your fucking political ideals.

This is the same reason why I hate 99% of all movies that come out. They are latent with subversive politcal ideals and political correctness. When I watch a movie, I don't want to hear/see your fucking political ideals. Again, if I saw George Bush Sr. speak, and he acted out a play or fucking monolouge, I would be pissed off!

What makes someone a political commentator? A political science degree? Or just a long time of commenting on politics with a "viable" title (and network that doesn't have the word "Comedy" in it)? Or do they just need to be taken serious in the eyes of the public? Because there are lots of political commentators I don't take seriously, or don't even listen to, at all. The facet of Stewart that his critics like to use to "brush aside" his arguments is that he's a comedian, so he can be serious and say what he wants politically when he wants to, and when he gets criticism he can say "oh who cares, i'm just a comedian, nyuk nyuk nyuk." Sure that's true. But it's also true that he's not a politician, or using his show to, at least as blatantly as Glenn Beck, push his own (wrong) views. Most of the time he just makes fun of the jackasses in politics, both left and right (although admittedly right is more often bearing the brunt) pointing out the logic and reason in the situation in a humorous and enjoyable way, that is fun to watch.

Maybe you should change your name to Mr. Serious. Seriously, no one wants to read nothing but serious shit, it's fucking lame and boring. If you do, then you're probably lame and boring. I add things like that for some comedy relief, if not for you then for myself because it makes me laugh.

Anyways my point is that if someone will listen to them, they have a sort of power to influence people. Even you had a massive following even after you were committing genocide in the tens of millions. When it comes to things John Stewart says over things Glenn Beck says, i'm going to agree with Stewart 90% of the time. There are tons of idiots who listen to Beck and personally it's nice to see people like Maddow and Stewart calling them out on their lies and misinformation.

I'm not going to be swayed by you ever to think John Stewart is not equally deserving of hate. Say what you want about Glenn Beck, but at least he doesn't hide behind the guise of a comedy show.

At first the Daily Show was just a mock news program. In the last 10 years or so it has turned into a vehicle for John Stewart's political ideals, but still with the general theme of comedy. I think this is a problem because a comedy program can be much more selective on what they report about and how they report it. The fact that people use this show to get their political news coverage is troubling imo.

I would have no problem with this type of show if it weren't so biased in its views. If you're going to have a mock political discussion program, then it needs to be fair and without the host's personal beliefs being rubbed in your face.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that a politcal commentator disguised as a comedian, or a comedian disguised as a political commentator is a dangerous man if taken seriously. I feel the same about Steven Colbert, and that other guy whatever the fuck his name is. He did Monday Night Football for a bit.

There is no point trying to find impartial media. Things that are facts can be reported impartially, for the most part, but the vast majority of the news goes far beyond facts like numbers.

The best is to just find somebody who admits what they are, find a few of them, and do some critical thinking. A good mix of black and white fact services like BBC (For the most part, I'm not defending the BBC as some sort of infallible entity) and opinion pieces works the best for me.

Wow, How did I miss this thread? The difference between Stewart and Beck is that Stewart is a comic and Beck is not. Stewart poke fun at everyone, including Obama. Beck, I think, take himself seriously.

As a conservative, I really do distance from pretty much every conservative commentator. Limbaugh, Beck, Davis, whoever, they're just entertainers as well, but seem to embrace what they put out as truth. To that extent, they're full of shit.
