COME ON YOU YANKS
|
Before I begin with the contest framework, let me preface it by saying that I realize this contest is a little on the shitty side. It's not big. It's not elaborate. It is something, though...and that's better than what we have right now. Credit for the contest goes to Hank's suggestion.
The contest will center itself around the 2.5 gigapixel image that I posted in the website of the day thread awhile ago. The contest will take place in rounds, each lasting 48 hours. Basically, I'll post a "clue" about something that you need to find in the picture. The items needed to be found will start off pretty easily...gradually getting more and more difficult to weed through the competitors a bit. Rules&Shit: Each round begins when I post the clue. It ends exactly 48 hours after I post the clue. To submit your answer, PM ME. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWER IN THIS THREAD. I will not reply to your PM ever. In fact, your PM isn't even official until the round is over. Once the round is over, I'll read through all of the replies and make a list of those who had the correct answer...and then I'll post the next clue. If you submit more than one answer for some reason, I'll accept the last submission only. If I later realize one or more of these rules make things fucked up, I may change them at any time...because I have the power. The contest begins now. In this picture, there is a building with two large pillars on its roof. What is the name of the smaller building found directly in front of the building with two pillars on it's roof? Hint: w*****-k************* Note: I'm not going to be a huge asshole about spelling...but, if it's too far off, I'm not going to count it. |

Some people have had problems finding the first thing...even though it's really really easy to do. If you're one of these people, there's a chance that it can be blamed on your monitor's brightness. Try upping it a bit if you can. If it's already as bright as it goes, you probably have a really old, shitty monitor...and I can't help you out too much. My apologies.

All six contestants delivered the correct answer. To the same eligible six:
In the gigapixel image, there exists a half bus/half car vehicle (due to a mistake in the image's crafting). What is the word on the side of the half-bus portion of the vehicle? 48 hours. Go. [ December 09, 2004, 10:21 PM: Message edited by: Orgazmo ] |

All six contestants delivered the correct answer. I hope this one will be considerably more difficult...
In the Gigapixel Image, there exists a vehicle which has a patch of striped paint that begins on it's front door and continues down toward the back of the vehicle. What 2 colors make up this stripe? 48 hours. Go. [ December 09, 2004, 10:21 PM: Message edited by: Orgazmo ] |

There's really like 30 minutes left...but I'm going to bed now. If someone who didn't get it yet pm's me the right answer before 1:56am, they'll move on.
To the three people who correctly answered the last question: DJ FC tonguegina Mr. Blonde Within the gigapixel image, there exists this sign: ![]() What color is the vehicle that is nearest to the above sign? Note: there is at least one very specific detail about this picture that makes it quite unlikely that there is more than one sign that matches this picture 48 hours. Go. |

Man, I fucking looked for 2 and a half hours for that goddamn paint stripe on that goddamn fucking car...and I still didn't find the fucking thing. Somebody, just to make me feel better, tell me where it was in the picture so I can find it for myself. I'm obvisouly already out of the contest, but I want to know if I missed it and actually did look in the right place.

To butch:
![]() To the other 3: Fuck. I really thought that one was going to be a lot more difficult. Of course, it wasn't...and all three got it very quickly. Anyhoo... To the same three... In the Gigapixel Image, there exist a few displays of graffiti. One of these displays a 5 letter word (which starts with a "C) in a yellowish tint. What is this word? 48 hours. Go. There have been reports that there is a 5ish letter unreadable "word" in yellow graffiti'd at a different spot in the gigapixel image. The word that I'm looking for is definitely legible. Funny story: I was talking to Orgazmo 2 hours before the contest ended for the striped vehicle. I, like butch struggled to find it. When I talked to Orgazmo about it I said something to the affect of "I thought about it maybe being some sort of Emergency Vehicle with white and red stripes." Later on after saying I had given up he told me I might as well pm him a guess you never know what would happen. Of course in my head I thought "no fucking way it's red and white what are the odds" so I didn't do it.
Fuck. |

You gotta be kidding me. I was looking for an acutal paint stripe, not a fucking stripe on a car. Well fuck that then. I saw that fucking truck and wondered if that was it, but Orgazmo said it was a paint stripe. I oughta slit all of your throats.

All 3 got the correct answer again.
It's time to get serious, motherfuckers. Firstly, you're only going to have 24 hours this round. Secondly, it's going to be really fucking tough...probably. This is how it's going to be handled: If, after 24 hours, no one has given the correct response...the round will remain open until a correct response is submitted. If this case becomes reality, I'll announce it. Find this pattern in the image: ![]() The colors of the image have been changed What distinct object is found very near where this pattern occurs? (hint: there are two of them) |

Yeah, I've got a final that I havent studied for that I have to take in 2 hours, and I frankly don't/haven't had the time to look for it, so I concede. However, I'd like to see another contest soon, because with finals this week then Xmas break coming up (slow internet connections), the contest wasnt very aptly planned, schedule-wise.
Best of luck to the two remaining. |

Perhaps it was very aptly planned...as it tested one's dedication to Nubblies even over their own future (and final grades).
Or perhaps not. Either way, correct answers were delivered by: DJ FC tonguegina To the eligible two go the next round's demand: Within the Gigapixel Image, I challenge you to find this pattern: ![]() Colors have been royally fucked with. What are this pattern's two main colors within the Gigapixel Image? 24 hours. Credit to ninjaface for this round's content. |

Two more correct answers.
In case anyone is following at home: ![]() This next paragraph is very important. Since Christmas Break is quickly approaching...and I really want to end this contest before it comes...I'm changing the next round into a Sudden Death scenario. In short...the next time that I see both DJ FC and tonguegina online at the same time (according to the "Recent Visitors" listed at the bottom of the main page), I'll post the final round's demand. The first person of the two to submit the correct answer (either via pm or in this very thread, I don't care either way) will be declared the victor and the next Nubblies Contest Champion. And now...now we wait. |

Game on.
The final round of this, the 8th Official Nubblies Contest: Within the gigapixel image, there exists this pattern: ![]() Colors = fucked, of course. As you can probably tell from the above picture, the two vans on the right are white. What I'm looking for are the two dominant colors that can be found on the leftmost vehicle (the van-ish boxtruck-ish looking thing). Go. |
