CNN just announced it. He's been going for a while, so it's not like this was unexpected, but I'm sure some people will be pretty sad.

This is a crux time for the catholic church, who becomes the new pope is going to be a big deal. The future of the catholic world lies in latin and south america , and it'll be interesting to see if the college's choice reflects that.

Actually, when I first posted that CNN had reported that he died, though they rescinded the statement a bit later, and now they're just saying he's "nearing the end."
