I doubt any other nubblites are really into boxing, but this is pretty big news. Mr. Jones just got his ass handed to him by Glen Johnson. KOed in 9th. This is is second time to be knocked out in as many fights... if he doesn't retire after this I will be suprised.

I remember there being rumbling after Lewis kicked Tyson's ass of Jones wanting to challenge Lewis...because he thought he was that damn good. Of course, Lennox declined...knowing that, if for no other reason than size alone, it wouldn't even be close.

Now he's consistently having his ass handed to him. How about that.

Don't get me long, Tyson is my favorite fighter of all time, but his left hook just isn't there. Look at his last fight, the guy stood infront of him and took some bombs, the bombs just aren't bombs anymore.

While on the subject, i'm much more fond of boxers who actually rely on skill, even if they lose the fight, than boxers who are in truth "fighters", relying on brute and forceful beatings. Granted, TECHNICALLY they are boxers, but certain ones you can tell actually have boxing skill and others have fighting skill. Tyson, while still an absolute badass, is more of a fighter than a boxer, and the aging process isnt agreeing with that fact very well. I also understand that when you're a heavyweight and sometimes bigger mid's it is harder to rely on boxing skill and quickness than it is for the lower mids and light and featherweights and such. Ya know? I havent been able to watch many fights lately because i've been so busy, i need to start taping FNF more often.

You ever seen Bernard Hopkins fight? You would probably like him, although he is definatly a fighter as well, he is a technical master.

I don't know that I agree. Though he did defeat Drago...it was just a movie. In real life, Drago would have killed him.

Thats the big russian right? I didn't realize he was based on a real character.. was rocky also based on a real person? That might be pushing it but who knows.

Drago was not based on a real person. There was a great boxer named Rocky Marciano, but other than being named Rocky and being Italian they aren't that similar.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply he was based on a real person. I just meant to say that, based on how they made Drago out to be in the film, had they kept him just as tough as they portrayed him up until he fought Rocky, he would have handed Balboa his ass quite handily.

Ya but real boxing also sucks. After watching all the rockys on indepenedance day, then shortly after watching real boxing, I was disappointed. The rocky movies make boxing seem so cool, but in reality IMO its pretty ghey.
