Key word being "Titan's". First thing's first. I'm making this forum to put all of my shit, not your shit. If you want people to see your shit, make your own thread and pay them $5 to visit.
Art class makes me hate art. I'm not sure how many of you have taken any art classes... I've taken a shitload. I took art classes in high school I didn't need to take. Point being, they suck. 90% anything good I've ever done was in my spare time. So we're going to go ahead and set this thread up to allow you a glimpse of my shat. These first few truly are the most recent, which is what spawned this thread. Phrases like "I wish I could draw," or "You're so talented," or "You make me hate myself," will not be tolerated. Fruitful discussion will. Some of you may have looked through my sketchbooks before at somepoint... they were in my showcase last year. Anyway, you may be familiar with my random draw-rings. That's good. I'm only going to preview my various junk today because I'm too lazy to scan any more, yup. These first couple are character studies. Those who do not appreciate the beauty of the human body and would describe an unclothed being as "lude" or "pornographic" have made it so that I must provide links for these first few. You have been warned, don't open these at school. Bi-Polar Angel of War Princess of the Desert River Elves In other news, the scans of these look fucking attrocious on the Piece of Crap that I'm on now. Perhaps I'll scan them in again at a higher res later... nnnnnnnnnn-yep. Yeah so it turns out that IE doesn't always open them up at 100% scale, it was at 75 which is why it looked so bad. If this is the case for you you may want to download and open it in a non-shitty jpeg viewing program. [ October 23, 2003, 04:18 PM: Message edited by: Titan ] |

Damnit silver, did I not make myself clear in my first post? Oh, I guess it's kind of hard to understand when you don't read it.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I kill me. Just kidding. I believe "Fruitful discussion" was the phrase, not that I'm getting my hopes up from the first two I post. Do you enjoy hearing other people's interpretations of something that you've created? It's one of my favourite parts about being an artist. | |

Is it within the guidlines to critique them? I mean that in all seriousness too. I don't wanna piss you off with suggestions or comments I'd have.

You can if you really want to.
That's not what I'm out for. If I wanted someone to critique my art I'd go to one of my art teachers, not to you guys. I'd much rather you just talk about what you get out of it, not what you don't get out of it and not what you think I could get out of it were I to do better. I've done a million critiques and had my stuff critiqued a million times. I'm not psychotic about my art being a certain way, it is exactly how it comes out. If I like it, that's beautiful. If I don't like it, that is too. [ August 24, 2003, 12:52 AM: Message edited by: Titan ] |

I see what you're saying, that's cool. Moving on, I was wondering, what was your intent on Bi-Polar Angel with a feather on the left wing and a horn on the other. I understand that it represents the bi-polar part of the statement, but I wasn't sure if you were aiming for it's "message", so to speak, was intended to be more social or personal? If that makes any sense.

Okay, to me it represents how nothing in life is too good to be true, and that there is always a good and bad side to anything, no matter how beautiful the exterior may be.

Yeah, see, I can't get that kind of shit anywhere else. I can't track people down on the side of the road and be like "Hey what does this picture make you think?" Like I said, that drawing was more of a character study for me, I was trying to create something to fill a quandary in my head and a gap in my imagination. You got something entirely different out of it. Shit like that's beautiful, thank you.

Okay, no insightfulness from Pli today, that's okay, 'cuz we're all... gonna stay.
This is one of my favourites for people to tell me about... you can surely imagine a "whale of a tail"... hahahaha... haha... ha... huh... I also imagine the picture if the umbrellas were on the otherside, obviously a completely different feel... ![]() |

Now this is a good one.
I'm a big fan of this one, and not just because of my relationship to whales. The whale actually looks in pain, the people are thoroughly interested in what's going on, and the whole thing seems (un)believably realistic; and this is all coming from a one minute sharpie drawing. I like. |

Beauty. I love how it seems that the setting can be taken as two different places. It could be:
a) The whale is on dry land, being propped up on a huge stake in what looks like a desolate area. This makes a few questions arise....how did this whale get there? How did these people seem to plant this monstrosity onto this fragile looking rod? Possibilities, possibilities. or: b) This could also be at the bottom of the ocean, giving it a futuristic feel to it. It would explain the presence of the whale in simpler terms, but I think that all in all, this doesn't seem like the likely interpretation. That was basically a logical view of what I saw. Here's my feeling about it. I see that this dead whale is an object of awe and worship.....of the whale, and also of themselves. They worship the whale for it is a being of entirely larger proportions than they, a gargantuan beast, something superior to themselves. But it is more of an object of worship to themselves. The death of the whale, the blood spilling, the 'pedestal'....it means that we have conquered a literal god. It is an example of our power even without size. I guess this is how I saw it. I love how simple it is too. Sharpies rock. |
