Five suspected witches burnt to death in Kenya-Rest of World-World-The Times of India

NAIROBI: Five elderly people suspected of practising witchcraft were burnt to death in western Kenya, police have
said.

"They include four women and a man in their 80's who were accused of having abducted a child," Kisii deputy police Commander Manasseh Musyoka said yesterday.

The killings occurred at Bomatara Village in Mosocho Division.

A resident who declined to be named said the abducted child was found dumped on the roadside.

"He was unconscious and when he regained it, he was able to tell the names of his abductors. That is when a decision was reached in the village to hunt them down. And they were all burnt in their houses," he said.

In March last year, 12 people, mainly elderly men and women were burnt to death in Nyamira district in similar circumstances.

Aside from that, it's videos like these that make it hard not to be ethnocentric -- although I'm sure sociology could find a way to rationalize why Western culture is to blame for those mongrols' moral short-comings.

There's nothing ethnocentric about the realization that murder based on fairy-stories is stupid and evil, no matter who is doing it.

Western society was doing this exact same thing just a couple hundred years ago. We judge our ancestors as being retarded barbarians in that aspect. There's nothing wrong with holding other groups to the same standard.
