One part of me says "Oh, everybody was like that at one point, they just have to learn and get used to it before they can get any good at it," but I honestly don't ever remember not knowing what I was doing, even when I was a weakass sophomore in high school. Everyone's just gotta be so tough.
If you are fat, get on the treadmill.
If you are skinny, hit the free weights, heavy as you can, with good form.
If you are just dumpy and want to get rid of your love handles, get on the treadmill. Situps are NOT going to help.
If you want to be buff, lift heavy and for god's sakes eat right.
If you want to be the very best at lifting a bar unsteadily with a spotter's help twice, just put as much as you want on there.
And beyond that, if you REALLY don't give a damn what you look like, honestly, then you can talk about not going to the gym. You're very lucky that you've fooled yourself into believing society doesn't judge you at first glance 100 times a day.
