The point I'm trying to get across is why do people feel the need to put homosexuals on a pedastal? Sure, I agree, theyre not hurting anybody and what they do should be their choice, and they should have all the rights anybody else has. But the moment I don't feel comfortable is when I don't feel I can snicker with my friend about the flamboyant fellow behind the counter. I am labeled a homophobe (by straight people!) and a horrible person because I am amused by deviant behavior just as I'd snicker at an old man freaking out because someone is on his lawn or a chick who comes over to your house and takes a shit on the first date.
Why do some straight people feel the need to write long columns about defending queers when there is so much more important fucked up things going on in the world today. I mean I could understand if you were a huge fucking faggot, and being a faggot is part of your everyday life. Then I could understand caring about fag issues. And what is with these people that are so opposed to gay marriage anyways, how is two fags getting married affect them in any way? Anyhow, do fags really have it all that bad in our society? Considering how fucking queer they are I think they have it pretty good in our society today as it is.

Damn dude, seems we've uncovered a little something some thing here. I'll start at the beginning...
The difference between a child molester and a fag is that a child isn't able to make that kind of grown up decision for themselves. Two homo's are both mentally developed enough to understand what's going on and to consent. Child molestation does devastate a kid - they might go on to lead normal lives afterwards, both the molester and the moles tee, but it's always something they carry with them, there's always some scarring. And while I agree child molesters can't help what they are, the difference is their actions do hurt other people, where homo's don't.
Do I feel progressive being a gay en abler? No. I don't feel like I should even have to. It's not about being edgy, it's about civil rights. It's pretty astounding to me that in the year 2008 people are still discriminated against because of sexual preference, race, religion, etc...I just happened to be poking fun at the homosexual situation this time. I've done a column on minorities before.
And this isn't at all putting homosexuals on a pedestal. It's about equality. Right now they're beneath heterosexuals, so if anything someone like you is on a pedestal. You seem to be displaying this idea of "reverse racism" where you feel like you're under attack for being who you are. It's not about that. It's about bringing people who are in minority groups up to your level so the playing field is equal. If you really want to get into it check out this book:

Lastly, I'm with you, nothing should be too taboo for people to make fun of. I make racist and sexist jokes all of the time, and I think they're fucking hilarious. What I have a problem with is when the government and a lot of the countries people have clearly discriminative ideas and policies that put minorities at a disadvantage. It's a civil rights issue. When Martin Luther King was giving his speech it was for black people, but the same rules can be applied to gays.
